Default Speaker/Door rattle because of bass?

Anyone else have a problem with a severe door/speaker rattle when playing your stereo? My front passenger door buzzes mercilessly if there is even a small amount of bass. I have switched from my preferred equalizer setting to one with less bass, but the problem continues. The speaker is not blown and I don't listen at a ridiculous volume.

Just curious. I'm within 1,500 miles of my first free oil change and plan to ask the dealer to examine the problem. Thanks.

I've noticed this as well. I wouuldn't call it Merciless but there's definately a vibration. maybe some sound deadening insulation in the doors would fix it?

I have tried to locate the vibrations and used insulated weather stripping to try to muffle or eliminate them.

I have not been successful.

I hope someone else has figured this out. I makes me crazy.

I was originally going to take off my door panels one weekend during this summer and hunt down the buzzing that I suspect is coming from the door panels. Unfortunately, I never got around to doing it.

I had this. I had to take all of my door panels off, apply felt tape around the perimeter of each panel, apply foam tape to the door lock cables, felt tape around the power window switches, etc. The xD door panels just rattle and it will take some elbow grease to get it to stop. I can safely say I have zero rattles after all of the work I did. It may take 2-3 attempts of pulling the door panels off.

just felt and foam tape did the trick?
i am suffering from severe door vibrations as well.
i have my amp to put in, but i havnt done so because i HATE the vibrations now and it will be absolutely horrendous aftyer an amp install.
can you post a pic of the door panel with the tape??

thanks much.

Door would not rattle for dealership. It does come and go. Not happening now in warm weather so I'm guessing it's more of an issue when cold (parts shrink). Naturally it started again on my drive home from dealership. Rattle for me seems to originate mostly around the interior door lock/handle on the passenger side.

Default Found the rattle

The door panel is in two pieces. if you put your hand into the cup holder and move it towards the rear of the car - push on the seem in that area and you will see that it is two pieces. I put foam tape between those tow pieces and have no rattle at all now.

Will have to give that a try. I'm noticing an intermittant rattle/buzz to the music out of the passenger side door speaker area. At first I was wondering if I blew the speaker already but I hope its just the door.

Not just me then...

This ticking noise (which is apparently in the door panel) drives me crazy. It doesn't occur every time there's bass, but every 10 seconds or so, there's a sharp "tick", that sends a sound into in my left ear.

I thought it could have been a defect in the left-front speaker, but I also hear it in silence while I hit a small bump on the left side of the car, or run over a reflector with the left wheel.

On a long drive with my wife, I told her about the noise, but she couldn't hear it from the passenger seat. I heard it every few seconds for about 5 minutes straight. Since it was a long drive in 5th gear, I put my arm on the pad on the door panel. Sure enough, there was no noise. When I ran over some reflectors to test it (with my arm on the padding, and again on the top of the door panel), the noise was gone!

Quite annoying, the only fault with the car so far. My guess is a loose clip/fastener in the door panel; perhaps there needs to be a felt strip of insulation around that area to quell the noise.

Edit: Fixed...scroll down ↓

I have replaced the stock speakers and upgraded them. I also fully sound deadened the doors and the noise persists, I thought it was the crossover boxes rattling between the panel and the door, but I see many folks hear the noise. I'll try the wrapping of the cables and other things. I am able to make it stop as well by applying pressure to the panel just below the handle. Will keep ya posted as this is todays project!

Wow, didn't think it possible, but I have the exact same ticking noise. It is rather annoying!

I had the same issue on my passenger front door, I pulled the interior panel off and broke a clip while I was at it.... turns out the clip wasn't installed right from the factory, without the clip there I have no rattle

After two hours in the shop yesterday, the ticking noise was resolved! With a little adhesive felt around the door panel, and re-securing some clips, it all seems to have done the trick.

Kudos to Toyota, and meeting a service advisor I used to work with. The tech even let me test drive to confirm any other rattles (there weren't any).
