Default can you maintain these yourself?

Hi everyone,
I am on my way to the dealer to possibly trade in my VW Passat for an XD. My husbands biggest complaint with the Passat was that everything is either impossible or a pain in the ___ to do yourself. Can the oil change, air filter change, and braks be done easily on this car?

In one word... yes

in many words, absolutely, doing all of the above mentioned maintenance is simple on the xD, oh and if your buying new, Scion gives you the first 2 regular maintenance free ;)

yeah, oil change and filter are pretty easy, air filter change is easy, brakes are possible, but better with two sets of hands.

Take it from someone who went from VW to Scion... These cars are WAY easier to work on! I just changes the trans fluid on a Jetta with the DSG... It takes a very special fluid, a special quick disconnect for the fill-port, and the VW computer hookup to tell you when the trans is in the proper 2 degree temperature window. Oh, and you have to do this every 40k miles.

Literally, you can take the entire fascia off the xD faster than you can take the belly pan off a Jetta. So easy, in fact, that my dog can do it:

I guarantee I could put new air filters in 20 xD's faster than anyone here could put a new air filter in one of the new Jetta 2.5's. I'd put money on it.
