Yea.. so at 9:40am I was hit by another car on my way to work.

The street has two right lanes that go on the freeway after the traffic light, but the lane next to the curb can turn right or go straight. I was in the lane next to the curb, the woman was in the lane to my left, both of us were (what I thought) aiming to get on the freeway. Turns out she's from out of state, thought both lanes had to turn right so she turned right... in to me.









I'm surprised at how calm I was. Got a police report, all her information and even got an eye witness who was behind me! I thanked her profusely for actually coming back when no one else did.

Going to the doctor soon, starting to hurt somethin fierce.

Cars can be replaced.. cars can be replaced..

glad youre okay, but what the heck was she driving? it looks like she must have turned into you pretty hard to do that much damage.

 

*sigh*... I guess that's what happens when women drive A1 Abrams tanks on the roads.

Good idea to go get checked out though. Hopefully just your muscles trying to relax from probably tensing up quite a bit with the whole thing.

 

She was driving a Ford Escape. Yea, I mean we took off from a dead start so it mustve had a V6 in it or something lol. It was a rental car from Avis, and their front right wheel was rubbing the inside of their wheel well when they moved it out of the way.

My rims are cheap (Konig Maxxims) but I'm surprised at how little damage there is on it. Then again my car took the brunt of the car.

Going to go to a chiropracter soon, my neck+shoulder area is really starting to hurt. Since she was right next to me I wasn't expecting this to happen so I didn't tense up right before it, which is a good thing. Argh

 

Just don't show nebster the wheel pic... it'll only fuel his fire and hatred of "cheap" wheels.

more the reason for me to get cheap wheels. so when crap like that happens, or if i curb one or hit a pot hole i dont cry myself to sleep that night.

expensive wheels or not... they would have been fawked... not like a set of Volks wouldve prevented the accident.

x2, Even if Volks/Works/whatever had taken less damage, very very unlikely it would have been fixable.

Regardless, glad you got away in better shape than the rim

 

Oh I already know his hatred for cheap wheels, but there is a thing called ignoring a post ;D

I can't help think that there is SOME damage to the frame, especially how she hit me. Going to find out tomorrow, I hope, when the shop calls me.

 

crazy!!!! good to hear you are ok. yesterday we had 3 accidents 2 ended in fatalities and one in critical all within a few hours just before lunch. when it rains it pours down here. =(

 

wait to clarify, so the women thought the "2 turning" lanes were for that side street and not the freeway on ramp?

Yea, exactly. I have no idea why when there are arrows painted on the street! Maybe she was talking on the cellphone or busy talking with her passenger to notice, I have no idea.

It's killing me not knowing the status of my car.. fk

 

*cringes* EEKS, that SUCKS. Stupid out of state drivers! LOL. Sucks to see what happened to your car, like most have said, AT LEAST your okay with slight pain damage. Don't forget to save your receipts so they can pay for your chiro/doctor visits.

Autobody said it'll be $6700 in damages, I don't pay anything since the other driver is completely at fault.

The next step is to see if my insurance will pay that or attempt to call my car a lost cause

Think that amount will make my insurance (Mercury) claim my car as totaled?

since it is mercury, prolly will try to total it. at least it's not an xA or xB1 (unable to replace with a new version of the same car) GOod luck on getting your car fixed. Hope to see you at meets again soon...and not in a new car.
