Always get gap insurance btw incase you car is totaled on the way home from the dealership
They pay you the difference from a new to depreciated car so if your car gets totaled you have enough cash to buy a new one flat out.
I'm glad you're not seriously hurt, but it sucks for your car.

Chels, you're building it all up too much... you'll hate your car no matter how perfect the body/mechanical work is. I don't think I can say anything to change your mind... but all of the body work I've ever had done has been great.
I was the victim of a hit & run a few years ago and the insurance company wanted to total my car -- $8,500 worth of damage on a 15-year-old car with 350,000 miles on it. I ended up fighting it because I wanted it fixed. I had restored the car to near perfect condition and I couldn't replace it with the $2,800 they offered me initially. I sent them pictures and receipts from the restoration and they bumped it up to $4,500 but still considered it totaled. I got them to agree to send a 3rd party appraiser out to determine the value of the car, and the insurance company ended up writing me a check for jsut over $10,000 and giving me my car back. I got it fixed by a really good body shop, and that car is still on the road with over 500,000 miles on it... and it is still a beauty.

Oh I know I'm overracting, its hard not to. It'll look the same, possibly drive the same, etc. but.. bah!
The body shop its at is really good at what it does so I know it'll come back looking like nothing happened.
Still, a good excuse/reason to move up a few notches in the car quality world

Well assuming you were 22 and fresh out of college when you got the car it must have been your first new car. People tend to get mighty attached to their first cars, especially Scion owners who customize them and really make them their own. Even if it looks brand new it's still "damaged goods" and nobody likes that. Aside from that there might be unforeseen damage that she'll always worry about down the line.
But I think me saying that makes her feel worse about the situation, so sorry :/

A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of your dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic...don't you think...

You being 14 was me referring to the fact that you mentioned it was a 99 so you'd have to be 14 in order to have had a new car.
That was my entire point though, that the xD was the first car that was yours and yours only. No one else to mistreat it, no one else to share any experiences with it, no one else to enjoy it.

Awesome. The shop has been having trouble locating a replacement wheel. Awesome. This means if they or I can't find one, I'm going to have to pick new rims and pay out of pocket for the other 3 to have matching ones.
Gdamnit!!
