the xb2 will be sold in japan as the corolla wagan, therefore it will have genuine JDM parts.

besides, since when did having JDM parts make a car successful, tc's have zero JDM parts, but they have outsold all other scion models now haven't they?

 

Well, it appears the haters are running rampant over here in the XD neck of the woods. Personally I think the XD looks wat better than the XA ever did, and has more power to go with it.

Having driven the xD, I prefer my xA. Stock for stock, the xA felt much tighter in the turns. The xD felt too floaty to me. The transmission's gearing is oddly spaced too... it's fine for economy driving, but it doesn't enjoy being shifted any quicker than someone's grandmother would shift it. And if you're telling me the xD is more attractive than the xA, please, take a look at the nose of the xD once more... I love the way the rest of the xD looks, but I just can't get over that beak-nosed front end.

The xD is much like the xA where it needs a bit of work to look right. I'd have to drop it on coilovers, throw a set of 18's on it, and swap a JDM ist front bumper onto it. Then I'd be happy.

I own an xD and I like the xA. I used to like the xA then it wore off, reminded me of a mini-Matrix. I like the way my xD drives and handles because its a whole lot better than my '99 Corolla.

Honestly I don't see why people have to be so _____y about a body style. If you don't like it then just ignore it.

 

I have both xA and xD in my garage. Both are lowered, both are manual. Honestly, xA is more fun to drive (maybe I am just not used to the xD). I don't really like the electric power steering on the xD, power difference is not obvious and xA being lower and lighter feels more stable in turns.

On the other hand, transmission is much smoother on the xD, we are on our second xA transmission and it's still "crunchy". Interior on the xD feels a bit more refined.

They are just different cars - both with their good points and small issues. Enjoy them.

When I saw the xD at the dealer, I liked the interior. I currently have premium strero on my xD and it matches pretty well with the dash panel

 

I would've gotten the premium stereo in my xD however paying about $400 should at least give you a color screen! I can wait till something better comes out or live with the basic one. I didn't see a difference in getting the premium one vs standard. Just more to pay off.

 

premium audio has an ability to customize the faceplate animation and the pic. I currently have it set as Stitch dressed up as Elvis playing a guitar (my g/f is Stitch addict)

that and you can change the stereo color from orange to blue.. and it just look nicer IMO

 

The only reason I shelled out the $400 for the "premium" HU was to get the 3-line display for the iPod menus. Makes it much easier to find things even though I have all of my music and audiobooks organized perfectly. I have animations turned off on mine and backlight set to stock amber. Yes, I'm boring.

 

I didn't think it was faster than the Range Rover Sport Supercharged... it does have 130 less hp.

 

being an xA owner, and my wife recently buying the xD, I have to say there's things i like about both. I agree with the above poster who said the xA handles much tighter - and I do love the fact that I can just whip my car somewhere if I need to, it handles much more like an extension of self as opposed to "the vehicle you're in". But the xD rides much quieter, I definitely like the upgraded interior space, and some of the off-the-lot features like keyless entry and side/curtain airbags (things that were upsells when I got my '05 xA) standard are nice. Altho yes, I'll admit that saying these things are "standard" when the car is ~$2500 more list than the xA is a little ironic ;) As far as pickup and overall power, it's tough for me to compare since my xA is stick but the xD we have is an auto. On paper sure, the xD has more juice, but you can't beat manual for trying to get on the highway :D

I have some envy goin' on over the xD, but I'll echo the sentiment that center cluster rules. I know that "popular opinion" of people who have never driven with a center cluster think it's strange, and sometimes that's all it takes to keep people from even being willing to give a car a test drive. But MAN is that where it's at, and I was sad to see Scion pull the gages back behind the wheel again for the xD.

I also REALLY dont understand the xD "haters" who own xA's. First of all, why hate on another Scion, even if the xA got discontinued? I love my xA but it wasn't selling, I'm not going to take issue with an intelligent business choice even if I wish it didn't happen. Secondly, I *like* the styling of the xD moreso than even my xA. But that's my $0.02.

serisouly I have owned EVERY model that has come out by scion and I have to say my personal favorites are the gen 1 xb and the xD. The xA is a good car and currenlty a bargain for those looking at a new car (if the dealerships in your area have any left) but I think scion got it right in the redesign of the xD and they did one thing I wish they would have done with the xB although petty they renamed the DARN THING!!!

When they came out with the price on the xD I never gave it a second look. 1k too much. I guess I was right after reading this thread. I be interested at the chance for a loaded yaris 2 dr hatch w/airbags all the way around and a better suspension. But I guess the xD killed that. Oh well....

 

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe this post was originally in the xA forum. When it was moved it seemed like those people had come over here to bash our cars.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and these folks were all agreeing because they own xA's and it got discontinued.

To each their own.

 

A Yaris hatch with the xD engine would sure be sweet - like a mini Civic Si.

As it stands, though, I don't think it's a fair comparison. The xD has a lot more room than a Yaris, more engine and a lot more features. If you think 15k is too much, then name me another car with more std. equip. for less money...?

 

The xD also has a much nicer interior than the Yaris. I considered buying a Yaris then I looked at the Scions and I was like no way am I getting the Yaris, it is too cheapy.
