Default My xD's first trip to Cincy.

Took the first road trip in my xD on Friday. Overall very happy with the experience. It will be better once I get past the old 1k mark so I can use cruise control for the trip.

An arm rest would have been awesome. I keep finding myself resting my arm on the back of the passenger seat. If Scion ever releases one it will probably be $800. They know we all want it!

So, the reason I was going to Cincy:

I have season tickets for the Bengals and this yearly set of road trips definitely factored into getting the xD. Odometer read average mpg 38.2 from when I filled up in Cbus. That is with two large men, two cases of beer, and a cooler full of ice. The car was a little more sluggish than it is without the extra person and tailgate supplies, but not so much that it bothered me.

An Escalade parked beside us and I had to take these:

I thought it was funny that with the back seats down we essentially had the same amount of storage area as that beast. Considering they pulled up with two people just like we did.

All in all, a great trip. I love my xD. Now bring on the armrest!

Not sure if this is OEM, it looks uncomfortable. At least we're starting to get some parts.

Why can't you use cruise control until 1k miles?

I have seen that one. It was in the xD accessories catalog. You are right, it does not look comfortable. Although I think it would be better than nothing.

I read in the owner's manual that you shouldnt maintain one speed (fast, or slow) for the first 1000 miles to break in the engine. I dont know what this would cause, but I am almost there anyway. Might as well not risk it with the cruise control.

I'll let someone else with more experience provide details, but based on research I did, not using cruise for the first 1k miles, varying the speed early on, helps to seat the piston rings properly. That said, my gut feeling is that the engine should be fine whether or not you follow these instructions, but following them is better than to not do so.
