Default Ready for a Brake Job?

Hello
I haven't had my XD a year yet it has about 15,000 miles on it.
And I'm getting a grinding noise from the front brakes. Guess it's ready for a brake job? Anybody else done their's yet? Seems a little soon.
Thanks

Yeah, it seems a little soon! Do you ride your brakes a lot? I would consider 50,000 miles 'too soon' for an average driver. I don't do much city driving... so that means less braking, but for example, I replaced the original brake pads on my VW Golf at 130,000 miles and my Sprinter van still has the originals at 90,000 miles. They're looking a bit thin though... I haul a lot of HEAVY loads in there.

Remember McBrew 99% of drivers use the accelerator until they have to brake, therefore premature brake pad wear ...

Not many coast like you and I.

Coasting ftw

I have 25k mi on my xD, and my front brakes have 2mm left out of 9mm on them. Meaning I need to get my front brakes done soon. Going to get aftermarket ceramic pads instead of OEM

15k does seem very soon for new brakes. Like mcbrew said, do you ride your brakes often?

So I got it in to have the brakes checked. Down to 10% so they were ready they had about 15800 miles on them. I have a 60 mile round trip to work going from Canyon Country Ca. to Woodland Hills Ca. In stop and stop traffic. I try to coast but people cut in a lot when you do that I think sometimes I end using the brakes even more.

Wow that is pretty bad. I am at almost 60,000 and I think mine are about ready to be replaced. I thought I drove pretty bad. How is your tire wear doing? I would check the treads for pre-mature wear.

Tires are perfect. I always thought the front of the car nose dived when I got it. Like the rear brakes weren't working well. He did adjust the rear this time and the car seems to stop a lot smoother.

i'm at 6800 miles and they're squealing. WAY too soon, and i don't ride the brakes, not hard on them. i'm kinda upset at that. any ideas? maybe just an adjustment?

I made it over 65k with my tC on OEM brakes. And even then they still had quite a bit of life, I was just changing to something with a bit more bite.

And that was with 2 and a half seasons of regular autocross!

And you're sure it's not the AC compressor running that you're hearing? Your AC will have no impact on the sound of your brakes.
