what kind of oil should i use??
I am soon to have my first engine oil change, and the cap says 0-20 or 5-20.... what should u people recomend me, i live on the caribbean hot temperatures, daily drive, not all day on the street, thinking about synthetic mobil one or synthetic royal purple...
most friends recomend mobil one it's easier to look for it on the store, and also wanted to know the part number for the oil filter, an how many quartz should i use? 4-5?? with an engine "restorer HP"....
use the 5w-20, it is thicker, which you will need being in a warmer climate.
mobil1 and royal purple are both fine choices, everybody has their opinion of them, but they are both well known respected brands.
as for oil filters, toyota's OEM ones are really good, and you can order them in 10 packs from www.trdsparks.com.
as for number of quarts, check your owners manual, it will tell you.

id stick with the oem filter, as drax suggests. Toyota and Nissan filters do the job just fine (plus, god forbid something bad happens, it will be easier to deal with if the filter is oem).
There are plenty of choices for oil; some even sggest synthetic. if you plan on switching, its best when the engine has fewer miles on it. the best time is debatable (i have no idea if it even matters), but i do know that if you wait until the car has 75K+ miles or 5+ years or so, switching to synthetic can be more of a catalyst to bad seals and what-not.
honestly tho, idk if it is really worth the extra 10 bucks an oil change on our engines. sure, if you hold the engine at redline all the time for extended durations, synthetic will show advantages, but in normal driving, i've yet to see proof that it actually helps or extends engine life.
