I have a 2011 XD. The other day the rear axle broke on the right side. Appears to have rusted through. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this an issue with the XD? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Minre rotted out and cracked on the passenger/ right rear. - back in February (2024). Had to get a junk yard axle that wasn't cracked. It seems to be a common enough problem after several years and living in the rust belt.

 

Reddead. If you can, make a report to the NTSB. This issue should be addressed by Toyota. I filled out a report and I also contacted Toyota. Toyota said they had no reported complaints about these axles breaking. Dealerships will fix the problem but they will not send a report back to Toyota unless it's a warranty claim. I ended up doing what you did.
