Now that the thread itself is pretty much cleaned up, I'm going through things again to see what warnings and infractions are needed.

Pitiful.
i do agree with you some tom.....but this topic has been covered before. perhaps we should have a mandatory training course on the search button for all new members

^^ is there a limit of how many of each thread can be made then?, so if i need help with something i have to go read rules before i can post a thread? True its easier to search for something but for new people who dont know the rules its not acceptable to hassle them and jump on them just because they needed help, i feel like if you dont like the thread then just dont click on it.

so your telling me that in order to write on a PUBLIC forum you want people to take courses? Why dont we charge everyone a $10 monthly fee? Like i said i think that people should learn to search but its nobodys job but the moderators to jump on him and tell him to search, if someone else doesnt like it then they dont have to look at the thread, its not like the thread jumps on you and makes you click it? Just leave it alone and let the mods take care of it

There is no way to limit that, but there IS a way to reduce the negative effects: If someone didn't search, or even more likely searched and didn't find what they were looking for, don't attack them for asking the question, don't just yell at them to use search, but ask them, politely, to search then give a link to the answer YOU found using search.

Hey! That's even in the rules!

Everyone here, new and old, have promised to follow the rules. They did that before they were allowed to make their first post.

We also need a training course on basic courtesy...

Yea that's exactly what im saying, if you're just going to click on a thread to yell at someone for repeating a thread that was made 8 months ago then dont bother to click on that thread. There's alot of people now who just click on threads to say "dumb noob learn to search" or "hey how about you use that button called search" so im trying to get how hard it is to be like "hey bro look theres the link to your question , next time just try to search", its not that hard but i know you will do what you can to clean up the thread

Everyone comes here by choice - they are not forced to - and everyone was given the opportunity to either promise to follow the rules or not be allowed to post.

The vast majority of folks here have no problems with following the rules, most probably without ever having read them, because they are not difficult or unusual.

Only a tiny, tiny percentage of the members have a problem with stepping up to the promise they made, or try to find loopholes or ways arounnd the promise they made.

Probably 99% of the moderation time here on ScionLife.com is wasted on the 1% who either can't or won't learn to follow the rules.

It gets kind of old when the same people keep causing the same problems.
