Default Quick Search?

Here's a tiny request...

How about adding a quick search edit control to forums, so that if I'm in say the tC Natural Aspiration folder, there's an edit control on the bottom that will allow me to search and it will only search that particular forum. I have this on other forums I belong to and love it.

Thx,
Nico

Can you give me a link to an example?

I know it is available on CycleForums.
http://www.cycleforums.com/forums/fo...?s=&forumid=12

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll see a "Search this forum" edit control. Any search will search that forum (and any subforum of that forum) if you use that search control.

I see the "Search this Forum" box at the bottom right of the page just under the pagination links, but not an "edit control". I thought maybe I have to be logged in, but after creating an account and logging it still looked the same.

Can you describe what I am looking for a little better?

Thats the control I'm referring to. It is an edit control (at least in my world it is ;)).

If you enter a search string in that text box (edit control) it will confine its search to that forum and any subforum of that forum).

Let me know if you still have any questions.

OHHHH! I understand now... I thought it was a sitewide search. Hmmm... that is a good idea.

I am getting my first super search finished... I think I will integrate this idea into it as well.

Nope, not site wide, which is why I love it. It allows me to be in the tC Owners Lounge for example and type in a search string at the bottom of the page and it will look just in that forum or any subforum (if subforums are setup). Its pretty sweet and saves time/makes it easier when trying to do targeted searches.

Thanks for listening to the idea, hope you're able to integrate it with your next search changes.

Your request has been filled. At the bottom right of any topic you will now find a searchbox that searches ONLY that forum area.
