since we're all on the topic of honda and their arrogance.. it's true the honda's did "Fall from grace" in the 90's.. it's why the civic's (for insteance) marketshare began to drop.. not only did they get rid of double wishbone in the front to make more profit, that led to a lot of people not caring about tuning the car.. the last civic I had, had many problems with it, so it's definitely not isolated at all. so the repairs went up, quality definitely went down.. It's why i switched to toyota, was tired of the excuses from honda (and repairs) and their arrogance..

But here's my main point.. I am reading the civic forums and it's funny.. Instead of really talking about the new civic or the si.. all they want to do is bash the scion tC! I find it hilarious that all they do is go on and on about how bad the tC is and how it doesn't even compare to the new civic.. If it doesn't compare then why do they keep complaining?

I love how the tC made such a splash in the compact market that now others are talking trash about it, guess scion did something right if they hate it so much

In all honesty, I personally don't think it can compare to the new Si. . . but if you compare it to the regular civic, then ew.

Whether or not you like Honda is irrelevent to the fact that the new Si comes with an LSD, and the very potent motor (in stock form). And given that it's a Honda, swaps and mods are plentiful. The K20 already runs circles around the 2AZ, and if you dump in a K24, then it's game over.

But overall, I'd still rather stick with the Scion. The price, the overall quality and fit and finish, and the design are far more appealing to me. But to the type of person who buys an Si or would be on any kind of Civic forum in the first place, the tC is not the car of choice. But for most REAL people out there, the tC is a great choice.

Read the stats in road & track on the si. 0-60 are exactly the same as the Celica GTS. Even with the lsd the si skidpad is not that much better. its slalom is better. its 0-100 and 1/4 are quite a bit better.
the part that's hard to deal with is that the si is going be 4 grand cheaper than my GTS.
the si is a great performance car for the price.
there is one important factor for me tho, my GTS looks a hell of a lot better.

the si performance is better than the tc, but they're entirely 2 different cars.
the tc has a lot more room and versitallity. its more practical. And prolly more fun to drive at lower speeds due to its higher torgue.

Toyota: little less performance, slightly better reliability.
Honda: little more performance slightly less reliability.

Some of them are insecure about themselves so they must put down any "competitor", regardless if they are better or not.

Then again, it's a civic forum, what do you expect? Go to a SRT forum and they'll bash other imports, go to RSX forum and they'll talk trash about the SRT4 interior, over on the scion boards, they talk about how ugly/overpriced other cars are, go to tiburon, trash other toyota/hondas for being overpriced and too mainstream, etc.

Every board has their share of fanboys.

ah yes but..... if you over rev you have a VERY , VERY high risk of valve to piston whereas the honda doesn't have that risk.

i hate the 2zz in all honesty. in the xrs's , and the gts. gutless til over 5k. i hate any motor that is like that. and if theres gonna be a lag in power there better be a HUGE rush coming on when it hits. aka a big turbo.

I am not a Honda hater myself... but I have made a comparison with my tC and Honda & Acura cars around the same price range... Performance wise, I love the tC, the torque is just too fun. I rode in a 2005 RSX and it was too blah to me, even though it has more horsepower than the tC it couldn't get to 80MPH as fast as the tC. I'm sure if they raced on the Freeway Hondas/Acuras would kill Toyotas/Scions any day but that's not why I bought my Scion tC. I got it because of it's looks and it's FUN. Right off the bat the tC has that enjoyable torque which zooms, not as dramatically as turbo or supercharged but REALLY good vs. any stock car. And the price range, comparing price range, Hondas/Acuras are a few thousands higher than Toyota/Scions but... In my opinion I believe Toyota offers more with less of a cost. I love Toyota and Honda, but I'm just thinking logically. Financially and personality wise, Toyota & Scion takes the cake.

Yeah, they lost the good suspension design in the last redesign. IMHO Hondas are far more appliance like than Toyotas. But to some people that is a good thing.
