Default Technic to get oil filter off for the first time

I spend like an hour trying to get the oil filter off my scion tC, there is not enough play to get it off with oil filter wrench that I used, then on my friends suggestion used this technique and got it off in a minute.

1)Make sure you have the oil collection pan in place.
2)Take a screw driver and pierce into oil filter (that you want to take off your car) on the side, but make sure you have a new oil filter handy.
3)Rotate the screw driver in the anti clockwise to get it off.
4)After oil drains, screw your new oil filter, hand tight.

This is for the first time only, when you screw you new oil filter just make sure its hand tight.

Or you could just get a oil filter wrench (the ones that attach to a 3/8" drive, not the strap kind) for $3 at wal-mart

I haven't changed my tC's oil yet (can't do it at my apartment complex and first 3 a free) but for some reason, lots of "professional" places really slam those things on there. The only problem with the screw drive trick is it makes a big mess and you have to punch the screwdriver in there pretty hard, so be ready for it. There is also the chance of hot engine oil coming down down the shaft onto you - do it quick, stay out of the way! Or get a wrench
