So i picked up a recent Road & Track Mag. and it appears that the animated series Speed Racer will be coming to life this May with a live-action film. And yes, this car is real and has 1700 ponies under the hood. Forgot to mention its 1/4 mile time of 2.6 secs! Crazy part is that it really jumps and has working blades haha. Be interesting to see how this movie film will turn out.

1/4 in 2.6 HIGHLY unlikely. Not with those tires or a rocket engine small enough to fit in that car.

 

That is one crazy car lol. I still say that car is ugly though.

 

I have seen the rocket back before they were banned they did 400mph in the quarter(yes I saw it at Englishtown-the Rocket Scientist if I recall)and no way that kinda time........

 

Those tires will not hookup to be able to do 0-60 in .6 seconds.

 

It takes 7,000+ hp to propel a Top Alcohol funny-car into the 4's in the 1320.
The Mach5 hasn't got a prayer of clicking anywhere near that... even with Speed Racer behind the wheel and Spridle & Chim Chim hiding out in the trunk! lol

 

No i wasnt suggesting, only referring from the magazine, so i'm going to assume that this turbocharged V-12 does just that. Pick up and issue, they're not standard tires, special molecular application of some sort.

 

Psst... (whispers) It's not real. It's just fiction, based off of a cartoon. It's called suspended disbelief, try some.

 

It's a joke. I bet if they actually test drove the car, it would run at best a 14 in the 1/4 mile. Do you honestly think a car that long and narrow with Advan's will pull 6.0G's on the skidpad?
