might i suggest watching "a day without a Mexican". its a really interesting film about if all the Mexicans were to disappear; legal or not. it captures on how alot of the mainstream America relies on minorities to handle the jobs that many people wouldn't want to do. its a cool film that i thought some people might wanna check out, it brought up some good points.

as for the upside down flag thing, ok i get the freedom of speech, and the whole "distress" thing, but at least be respectful if they choose to disagree about something.

i am from east side san jose in california, where a great majority of the people here are Mexican, Filiipino and Vietnamese, so i can see where they are coming from (to a certain extent, and not to say i support the upside flag). as for myself i am Filipino and i know my heritage, and what we went through as people. esp all the veteranos not getting the propper rights that were "promised" to them; but never had they flew the flag upside down. and to be honest i just totally disagree with the flag upside down thing.

imo, i think that if they should fly any flags with eachother, it should be side by side, right side up. cause thats what America is all about, equality and a melting pot for all cultures. and i knew i felt warm when i saw this in city hall...

it was flew up in Oct. for national Filipino Heritage month. few up right next to the American flag, right side up as equals. if you're to represent your culture, represent it without disrespecting others.

I AGREE!!

Being a MEXICAN, who was fortunate to be born in the USA, I will say this.

Be proud of what you are and where you came from, but also understand WHERE you are!

It's important not to generalize guys. There are just as many people from other countries that are honored to be here as there are that don't understand what it's like not to have a free and safe country to live in.

It boils down to the individual. Those kids screwing around with the American flag, they're not representative of all people of Hispanic descent. Just as some wackos from the KKK or Aryan brotherhood are not representative from the average white persons belief.

Mexico is not a piece of $hit country either, you have to understand that all over this world are people who are raised on different cultures and background and that those are indeed very cool to experience and know about.

I didn't realize this until later in life (I'm 33), but learning about the world, not just whats 2 feet outside my doorstep, is an awesome thing.

Those kids who are disgracing the American flag, yeah they're jerks. But it doesn't mean that every Hispanic person with a interest in his peoples culture feels the same way.

If you look at the school walkouts during the talks about immigration, do you think those kids are really politically motivated individuals who are fighting for what they feel is right? I doubt many of them know the full story, they are just looking for a way to rebel, and think it's funny or cool.

Judge people individually, any other way you will just breed hate.

EDIT: If I wanted to put a flag sticker on my car, I would be screwed because I'd want to put every flag on the planet on there. So many countries, so many cultures, not enough room... I'd need an 18-wheeler hehe..

I think that everyone here is missing the point this is a blatant disrespect to the country most of these people were born in. I love my country and pay my taxes just like every other honest worker in America does, and when the government stands up for the people that feel they are being robed by the illegal immigrants in this country, these so called citizens go out in a outrageous protest to try to prove to the world that they are being treated unfairly. If this was Mexico and I moved over their and tried not to pay taxes or register as a citizen they would do the same thing to me so why is it so horrible that we are trying to protect all the immigrants that did it the right way. I understand that this country was founded immigrants but if you go down to Ellis island and see all the signatures of the again I state Honest people you will gain an appreciation of our great country and the rights that it gives to people that want to live in such a great place and be free. I stand up as citizen of this great country and say thank you for giving me my freedom that I have and thank you to the people that fight every day to protect that right. In the end going back to the upside down flag being raised above the Mexican one their has got to be some reason these people have fled to this country and I don’t think it is because they feel we are worse off then the country they fled from and if so GO BACK!!!!

flyhigh,

I understand what you are saying, but you are still generalizing. There are hard working americans from coast to coast doing the right thing.

Some of them are hispanic.

Those people that defend our country every day, earning crap for pay but keeping us safe at night...

Yep, some of them are Hispanic.

I tell you what, introduce some of those soldiers to these kids and see what happens, it would not be pretty I promise you.

You are upset at the images you see and I feel the same way, but directing your anger towards all immigrants is not the answer. They don't all feel this way.

This country is a great place to live. It has it's problems though and one of those problems is immigrant and illegal alien laws. Clearly we need solutions to problems like tax free non-registered immigrants, etc. None of that will appear overnight sadly, and when people start working on it you are going to have the stupid jerks walking out of schools and what not.

Our government has been slacking for years on important issues like this, and it's cost us billions of dollars. It sucks but it's true...

This is not an outrage on all the immigrants it is an outrage on the ignorant people in this country that rely on other ignorant people to lead them around blindly. I work for a company who employes a lrge portion of all immigrants from all over the world who with out them things wouldnt get accomplished and for Them I am gratefull for their hard work and honest living

that is somewhat funny... b/c there is a lerge portion of the american-born-"white" population that could not put a coherant sentence together if their life depended on it.

btw... add me to the immigrant list please... I was born in Columbia (by accident), but my family is from Greece, and I didnt find out until I was 20. I also didnt speak english until I was 5, but now have perfect diction, although every now and again will have a hint of an accent, that most women and some men think is cute

He made complete sense. WTF was that kid saying? What legal immigrants know better english than illegal ones? And WHO said american born know better english than legal immigrants?

There's not one american friend who I don't correct at least once in a while.
