Amoxapine, I did not assume you 'believed' this, but it is simply another example of how this sort of garbage spreads, and why it is so difficult to kill: People don't bother to validate anything. They just say "I heard that..." and promulgate the bad information.

Verifying many things like this takes 30 seconds of web access, and prevents them being spread for years and years by people to whom checking their facts is just plain too much trouble.

I have a friend, a very gullible friend, who believes every one of these things she reads. half of them she forwards to me and I spend the 30 seconds to debunk it and send it back to her. You'd think she'd learn not to believe everything that shows up on her computer, or at LEAST learn to check on them, but no, she just blindly forges ahead with her "Did you hear what..." e-mails.

I guess that's the same group of people who help all those Nigerian folks with money problems or who keep clicking everything in their e-mails. *sigh*

Sorry about not being more gentle saying that what was posted was crap, but that is a hot button with me.

Tom

I know someone like that.. in fact, she had bought like.. 10 cases of 24 bottles of Dasani water.. then a day or two later she was listening to some radio station and the guy was like, "There are cancer-causing agents in Dasani water." So what did she do? She dumped out EVERY BOTTLE of Dasani water and didn't drink it.

She didn't do research.. didn't just return it and get her money back.. just dumped all the bottles out because one guy said something about a cancer-causing agent.. *sigh*

She listens to this guy on the radio who feeds people B.S. or just runs his mouth and she believes a lot of it. I forget some of the other cases with her, but all I can ever do is just roll my eyes because she believes everything. Chris even asked her one night if the guy said that you would live forever if you jumped off a bridge, would you do it? That's how much she listens and believes what he says.

Tom, you're right, I should have done the search before saying anything, or simply asked if anyone knew it was true or not. But I didn't...

I also hate the spread of rumors, and I stuck my foot in my mouth there. I mean seriously, look at my posts... if there is something that I don't know, I will let it be known - "Don't take my word on this...", "I am not an expert...", or "I suggest you do your research...". And most of the time, I do some searching before even posting those, simply to not look like an idiot. *sigh* (since everyone else is doing it, I might as well sigh too ).

Sorry, I'll be more careful next time.

Dear Starbucks Barista, if I say I want a white Hot chocolate don't give me a white chocolate macchiato. and when I ask for a hot drink don't give me a cold one instead.
