DSLR Owners Unite! (56k? Are you kidding me?)
After going back and forth between getting this lens or just skipping it and waiting until I can afford (and am strong enough for) a 70-200mm f2.8. I decided to go with the 85mm. First, the quality is just as good, if not better than the 70-200mm. Second, its one and a third stops faster than a 2.8. Thirdly, its about 1/4th the price of a 70-200mm. Fourth, its about 1/4th the weight of a 70-200mm. Granted it can't zoom, but with 12mp, a crop is always an option.

I have been a big fan of my 50mm f1.8 lens for a long time. It is light, compact, cheap, and yields some of the most beautiful images I've taken. The only problem with it is that during events and weddings I have to get up pretty close to the action. The 85mm gives me that extra reach that lets me capture the moment without disturbing it.

mm i dont think those pics are a good representation of the lens cause those look like really heavily compressed images... maybe wrong settings when saving in photoshop?
composure and the bokeh looks good though
composure and the bokeh looks good though
Some pictures I took when I was on vacation, these were some of my favorite shots... Anyone care to guess where I was? lol... *Hint: Small Country, probably won't guess unless you've been there
... I reduced the image size quite a bit, and it lost SO much detail
stupid PS CS3... I have a bunch more, but these were the top of the pick...

come on nowadays everyone has some sort of highspeed internet and with super cheap hard drives there is no reason to compress so heavily!
ive got no input on compression though its all RAW to full quality resized images to 1200px long edge for me. small size with good quality

level 12 compression, resize with bi cubic sharper, save as rgb for internet and cmyk for print.
