^ Price drop soon.

Also, I'm buying a new camera bag so if anyone happens to want my old Nikon bag, I'll sell it for like $20. It's this one:

i have a question/need opinions from you guys. im ready to bite the bullet and buy photoshop/some type of editing software for picture/video editing.

ive always been confused when it came to PS and all that jazz, im looking at..

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 & Premiere Elements 10 for $119, 2 in 1 package. (i also see that theres an "upgrade version"? any difference?)

or

Adobe Lightroom 3 for $299

i want something easy to use, but also capable of making pictures look great.

what do you guys suggest??

Lightroom3 (which I have) does not support any type of video editing. If it did, I would probably never buy another adobe product :D

I think Lightroom is easier to use for photo editing. It's more to-the-point than photoshop is. But with photoshop you can do a lot more, graphics and photo manipulation, etc. Photoshop and Premiere will take time to get used to. But if you spend some time with it you'll figure it out quickly.

I'd suggest the Photoshop/Premiere elements package. But for video, look into other programs like Sony Vegas. Try the demos. They might suit your style.

LR3 was at $150 for two weeks. Looks like it just ended. I see it's @ $270 on BHPhotovideo.com which is cheaper than the $299 it was at before the 50% off sale.

3899 is not bad. The new 1DX from Canon is going to be like 7 or 8k. Time to start saving for that bad boy!

Depends. They serve different purposes. The 1Dx might turn out to be more of a low-light monster than the 3Ds was when it was introduced. If the D800 comes out spec'd like Pete @ Nikonrumors thinks it will, it will be a commercial and landscape camera. Which means logic dictates that there will be a camera to fill the void between pro DX and the D800. There's a couple different ways this can go.

Like this:
D3100 - Consumer 14mp DX
D5100 - Consumer 16mp DX
D7000 - Consumer 16mp DX
D9000 - Pro (sports/wildlife) 24mp DX
D800 - Pro (landscape/commercial) 36mp FX
D4 - Pro (low light monster) 18mp FX

Or like this:
D3100 - Consumer 14mp DX
D5100 - Consumer 16mp DX
D7000 - Consumer 16mp DX
D400 - Pro (sports/wildlife) 16MP DX
D800 - Pro (landscape/commercial) 24mp FX (a la D3x but with better processing)
D4 - Pro (low light monster) 18mp FX
D4x - Pro (landscape/commercial) 36mp FX

Or some other way... Only the people at Nikon really know, but it's fun to speculate. It really depends on what small FX body comes out I doubt D700 owners are going to let theirs go.

So nobody has posted in here for the past few days.. Figured I'd post something up.

Just got my D5100 w/18-55mm kit lens yesterday. Hoping to get pick up a 35mm 1.8G or the 40mm 2.8G later on this month.
I'll be posting up some pics within the next few days.

Is there going to be a December challenge?

Welcome to the dark side aka Nikon Squad! No ideas for a challenge yet. We could do the obvious Christmas theme, or someone can suggest something else.

Just bought my mom a Canon T3i for her birthday! No lens as I want to get her either the Sigma/Tamaron 17/18-50 2.8 or the Tamaron 28-75 2.8.

Thats awesome!
Amazon was having a pretty good sale on T3i bundles on Cyber Monday. I was actually considering the T3i for a while.. I think the only reason I went Nikon was because my girlfriend has a D3100, so if I buy her a new lens for Christmas or her birthday, i'll be able to use it too. Heh.

Jon, a Christmas theme sounds fine to me!

We need some guidelines. I'd like to do a "wide-open" challenge but I don't like using that terminology unless the lens is capable of f/2.8 at a minimum. And everyone may not have a lens that can do that.
