just my opinion

If I remember correctly back when the xD was just a rumor someone brought up that Scion Trade Marked the names xD xE why wouldn't scion continue the trend and call the new model xE or mabea even tE but inevitably E is the next letter in the alphabet or atleast it was in Kindergarten
remember the toyota bB openDeck?
second toyota would not want to out class there Camry or Lexus with a "cheaper"
car
+ stiffer CAFE ratings kick in and toyota might want to use SCION to "top up" there MPG
so they can sell more higher profit V8 trucks / SUV's that get Terrible fuel econ!

Just thinking...

The FT-HS (3.5L + HSD) is the supposed Supra replacement, if it does surface as a production vehicle. I'd definitely hit that

The GS may be similar to the Avalon, but they are completely different vehicles. The Avalon is based off the Camry platform. The GS shares a longer-base platform from the IS series and is RWD/AWD. As far as features go, I guess you can call the Avalon a FWD GS... sort of.
A great example would be comparing the Toyota 4Runner versus the Lexus GX470. THey are built with many shared components but have completely different suspension types (XRES vs KDSS) and tons more Luxury features (GX).

Trust it WILL be a coupe upgrade.. Scion will not take its best selling model of car out of the coupe market knowing 85% of Gen-Y users don't want trucks! Especially with gas the way it is.. Scion will keep with the sport coupe theme... Expect at least a 2.5L from the Matrix thats all I will say as of right now.
As far as AWD is defintely a no (too expensive $$) RWD maybe , but that would mean skimping out on other important features in order to make it under 20K. It also will stay a I-4 not v6 ( targeting different class) Think about it, 84% of Gen-Y that is into customizing thier cars drive a I-4 ( w/ Tiburon as an exception) they want to tear them away from other competing I-4 coupe companies. Toyota/Scion will not produce a damn V8 way too expensive to produce !! But it is nice to dream

From what they are showing (since 5 Axis's 2nd Gen xB looks a whole lot like the current one), the Fuse will most likely be the tC's replacement. They'll probably retire the tC and have the xE or something to that effect.
I don't think they will go V6 or anything like that, they will make it basic and let the buyer choose to do whatever they want. Scion, IMO, provides a canvas for enthusiasts to work with or keep it stock.

Japan's AE86 will ultimately be the replacement for the tC. Spring of 09. I hope they offer more accessories for it from TRD than they did originally for the first tC. Optional s/c maybe? 200 HP all motor?
