How to tint your tails with VHT Niteshades
here ya go, my camara sucks at night with the flash on...the shots come out looking REALLY dark. so this is without the flash. its alot more crisp in person.
now during the day the light output is not as high, but not to an unsafe level. you can still see me braking and see that brake lights are on.
running lights close up

braking lights close up

running lights farther away

and yes when there off they are completely black, i didnt tint these. so the light you see is the light that shines out of completely blacked out tails.

^^ "My car is an honerol student" - that would be the perfect bumper sticker for a short yellow school bus......LMAO, priceless. But your car looks great -you've inspired me to take the leap and give this a shot......
Dublicolor acrylic laqour,
after the vht spray i put 2 coats of clear coat and then wetsanded
then 2 coats of cc and wetsand 2nd time
3rd time
4th time
and then loaded half a can of clear coat on each taillight (in moderation of course to prevent running)

Everyone and their brother has blacked out lights here, from suv's, to lux vehicles and trucks. Don't dig it too much. I'd probably go the GTS light covers for $40 instead of possibly ruining more expensive lenses. Ehh, thats my opinion anyway.
I must admin, I did this years and years ago on my 95 civic which was black with "Nightshades" paint. I thought the GTS covers looked cleaner anyway when done creatively.

I would love to do this but I'm scared I won't get that really
shiny, glossy finish. Still confused about why needing to wetsand.
Seems like you sand to a haze then reapply clear and repeat. Can't you just put the clear on the first time and leave
it? I don't get how the clear ends up shiny when the sanding makes it hazy.
Seems like you're doing the opposite of the result you want.
Also when applying the smoke spray, won't certain areas overlap as you are painting?
I'm thinking that you'll end up with darker bands/streaks where some areas got more paint than others.
Help appreciated...

Hopefully you can answer my concerns/questions about wetsanding in my posting above.
