are any of you guys running HID's for the dims AND HID's for the brights? Most everyone i've heard of just runs HID's for their dims.

Thanks

i have hids for the stock projector low and hids for the vrd fogs. i must say that the glare on the vrd fogs are horrible with a hid kit though.

I have the ddmtuning 55watt 6000k hid kit. I dont have it installed yet but I've heard a concern about using these 55 watt ballasts with factory headlight housings. I've been told the extra power from the 55 watt ballasts (vs. the 35 watt ballasts) could cause my headlight housings to melt. Has anyone had an issue with these 55 watt ballasts from ddmtuning or from any other company??? Thanks

Regardless of whether the kit is 35 or 55 watt, use a wiring harness with a relay so that you don't melt the stock headlight plugs. If you're talking about the actual housing, then you have nothing to worry about... the kit doesn't get hot enough to melt the housing. But there has been concern about the headlight plugs melting due to an overabundance of power going thru the stock wiring, in which case the relay harness would solve that issue.

that's what I thought...that's why I ordered the relay harness with the HID kit. Someone told me to watch out for the factory headlight housings getting too hot with the 55 watt ballasts. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but I don't see a reason for concern w/ the housings either; just the factory plugs & wiring. Thanks

I'm going to keep an eye on the housings too but the only problem area I've heard about has been the factory plugs and wiring. I don't expect to have any issues w/ the plugs or wiring either though. Thanks

I currently have a 35w 8k kit installed, but I really want to go with a 55w ballast. Can anyone chime in on how they are. I have a 05 so i don't have the projector headlights. Is the glare really going to be that bad with a 55w on a 8k setup or should I set down to a 55w 6k setup? thanks

Your glare is already horrible and blinding drivers. Changing the wattage will do little along with the HID Temperature. I would go with 6k or 5k anyways since you lose light output (basically making the fact of having HID's useless) after about 5K.

Well actually the glare isn't that bad at all. Cause I do have my headlights pointed down a bit, as I researched to do before I installed them and adjusted them. So really u would have to be below the angle of the headlight to get a glare.

Anyways I did just order the DDM tunning 55w 6k kit. Looking forward to getting that already. 8k would have just been more trouble with the higher ballasts output.

hey all! I got my ddmtuning 55watt 6000k hid kit installed and I like them all but one thing. I am running the relay harness, by the way. This may be a normal thing but I'm not sure. This is my first set of HID's. As soon as i switch them on they have a bright flicker, and then they warm up like normal. Is the flicker normal?

Initial flicker is completely normal. Its simply the ballast firing up the bulb, the bulb will come up to temp in a few quick seconds, then will not flicker past that. If they do flicker past that, you have a bad kit.

Alrighty guys, im having a bit of a problem. I have a set of HID's from MobileHID. At the time when i bought it ( 2008 ), they were one of the best out?

Anyways the problem i've been having for a quite a while is that once a night, at least, one of the lights will go off. What i mean is that sometimes when i try to turn them on, the left one sometimes wont turn on until i turn them off then back on again. OR sometimes when i am driving either the left or right will go off, usually the left. So what i did was email clifford and he sent me another set of ballast. I swapped them out and im still have the same problem. This has been an ongoing problem for the past year and half...

Anybody know what could be the problem? im running 8k with the relay harness. Im thinking maybe its the bulbs? or the relay? or maybe i just need to replace the whole kit?

Hi everyone.

So, I'm one of those tC owners that has an earlier model (2006) and upgraded to the newer model (2009) headlights. I got the adapter mentioned by TRDSparks which converts the 9006 bulb socket to an H11 bulb socket.

Here's where I'm at. This adapter wasn't made for HID's so I'm really worried about running a straight H11 kit off the H11 adapter bulb socket. I was thinking of 55W in 5000k since that's just straight white light (brightest you can go w/o any yellow or blue). What are your thoughts on this? Can I run the kit fine off the adapter? Is it possible to get a kit with a 9006 bulb socket and an H11 bulb? Thanks.

^ IIRC, low beam is an H1. But I'm not 100% sure.

^^^^^
Meng's stuff is legit. Pick up the relay harness for extra security and assurance.
