someone talk me out of it!
i was actually gonna link u to that honda tech thread. lol
as long as you buy decent spray paint, and do all of the pre and post paint work properly, it has the potential to come out great.
just take your time and make sure it looks right the first time or youll regret it.

and for all the nonbelievers out there.. i shall make it my business to make you believers! i wont bring a bad name to the scion community..

for the colors, do something sweet. Like if you're really gunna risk ruining the rest of your factory paint job, do something unique.
Like if I could do it, I'd have the a black base with some really dark grey , silver and white camo patterns on top.
Yummy.
but if you're just looking for one color, do like teal or something, and if it looks like ____, who cares, the paint wasnt too expensive, you can re-do it.
that's what I would do personally

I helped a friend rattle can his hardbody flat black and it wasn't too bad at all. Make sure you have an enclosed place to do the painting, take your time and tape off everything and don't skimp on the prep work and you should be ok.

after:

It's not perfect but we spent about 50 bucks on all the sand paper and paint. 99 cent cans of flat black from wal mart. Been like a year and it still looks good.

plz dont use the walmart paint, spend the extra couple bucks so you have the piece of mind that your paintjob will last more than a couple years.

I say go Delorean style and leave everything exposed steel! Then down the road, a genuine rust color will start to fade it's way in and it will be very unique! Just kidding, don't do that. I say play around a bit and try to OEM match the two pieces and if you don't like it, take that experience and apply it to a flat black coat on the whole car. Enjoy! Who knows, you may be the next Bob Ross! Just don't forget to put the happy trees by the old red barn or get paint in your afro
