Thanks Scion for cheap windshields
Guys, please don't complain about windshields. I just got another rock chip and within 5 minutes, it already left an 3 in crack. I got my car in Oct '06, replaced 1 windshield in Dec ' 06 (read above in link 2) and I got another crack again. Going on my third windshield in 10 months...
i own an xb and havent had good luck with my windshield either
shortly after i replaced my 1st windshield b4 the 1st yr i end up with 2 cracks, one from top down and 2nd from buttom up, got 2nd windshield and got 2 crakcs and 2 chips but too expensive to be replaceing them everytime that happens.

I think it has a lot to do with the NY/NJ/CT area. My sister-in-law has had to replace the windshield on her mini van 3 times in 7 years and my brother has replaced the windshield in his Maxima twice.
if i put my thinking cap on, it's probably several factors. and mind you this is not scientific.
yes the NY tristate area has a lot of construction..but i have some thoughts as to why my matrix used to get pelted and show more wear than my murano.
1 - there are more drivers on the road than ever before. more opportunity to be behind someone chucking rocks at you.
2 - there are now more suvs on the road than ever before. you only used to have to look out for trucks. but now everything has big wheels and from a tC perspective..just about every car on the road is higher than you. so the pebbles that might hit a grill on someone elses car are pelting our windshields.
3 - the xB in particular has a much less angled windshield, closers to 90 degrees than the tC. I imagine this provides for more head on collisions with rocks rather than letting then ricochet off.
4 - sure throw into the mix that there is more gravel on the road from bad weather and salt breaking down the asphalt.
just my guess...not cheap glass.
