yea ill get that one or the greddy one.. because this flimsy plastic ____.. doesnt look great.. even the plastic engine covers that i had on my 02 celica.. were much nicer looking. yeah i shouldnt have expected much for 30 beans

 

In defence of Dr I.

his plate is CUT like that on purpose.

when you install this, you will understand this. His cover needs to be bent for it to fit properly, and cover more area (more than MMW's). It bends because where it is secured isnt perfectly flat, so two clips (one on each side) that hold it down on the bent part.

Dr. I's is 10x better than MMW IMO, looks more factory, and doesnt extend WAY pass the radiator like MMW's does.

I believe Doc I's is 25 or 30 shipped, and well worth it

the quality is very good, and it looks OEM, which is alot better than MMW's

And MMW, i really dont like how you bashed on Doc I by saying, and i quote "you get what you pay for." I know you meen this is a bad way, but im gonan say it as well....

I did get what i paid for, and it was the best 25-30 i spent on my car yet!

Props to Doc I for even making these for the SL community.

 

Break you havent seen our product how can you judge so quickly.

Do you even understand why we extended up to the end of the radiator? thats to keep the air flowing to where it needs to go. The air will go where ever it wants where the alternative plate ends.

Sit in front of your car and think about it.
Look at it very carefully and look at the gap between the radiator and the radiator support.

And im not knocking on dr.i's plate..

Yes i have seen your product, and i questioned it even when it was in its prototype. You say it will know air down, but it wont make that big of a differance, its not a performance part, its for looks only.

the ABS plastic wont warp... ____ man... think about it.... the stock airbox is plastic.. so will that warp too? and thats even closer to the engine.

doc I's plate for 30 shipped (oem look, and geat)
mmw plate for 75 + 15 shipping = 90... and doesnt look nearly as good as doc i's IMO, and goes WAY back pass the radiator... and it shouldnt... i dont care how much u argue with me on it

all in all, i didnt like how u were so fast to bash on him, because he has a product that is a competor to yours.

he is selling his at 1/3 the price of yours, and looks a hell of alot better IMO

its all in personal preference. i personally like the MMW radiator plate and i feel a little better knowing its made of aluminum then plastic. its all about what you like, get what you want.

i just argued with him because of his bashing.

even though it is plastic, i bet it will last longer, keep the original look, and stay clean much more than the MMW one will.... it also covers more area.... so you REALLY cant see in that gap, unlike the MMW

 

i just got mine in raw material, and then powder coated mine gloss black wont have to clean it, wont lose its color hehe. good times. i like the product

If you can read, i said the heat from his HEADER..
and yes the stock airbox is plastic but its no where near the HEADER.
Where it emits the most heat.

And as far as i can see i have built some of the most horsepower producing parts on this forum to date.

And to say the radiator plate is for looks?
Again you prove you know squat.
the radiator plate is designed to direct the air flowing from the front of the car to the radiator to give it more air, for cooling purposes. Hence better performance because the engine is running cooler.

Which is why MMW , Greddy, ARC and other companies have developed products like this.. NOT for looks.

So please stop knocking peoples products if you cant prove your point in a gentleman manner. this is a forum for people to talk about their cars and products for their cars not a forum for people to talk ISH.

ok, do a test for me and prove me wrong, get the temp of the engine with and without your radiator cover. i bet there will be NO reduction in temperature.

and Doc I's place is father away from the header than the stock plastic piece directly above the radiator. and that piece isnt warping. That plastic piece is also THINNER than doc I's plate.

and about you building the most HP producting products on this forum to date is incorrect. turbos that were producted makes alot more HP than your header (but it is a good product, from what i have seen/heard about it so far)

it's also heat from the radiator, which is doing what its supposed to do which is radiate heat.

if you wanna cool it down, you wouldnt spend 90 on a plate that looks good with no performance, you would buy a higher grade radiator. end of story

And yes the plastic radiator plate goes under the stock unit which explains my theory. But some people dont understand why someone would do that.

Once again I feel I have to back up break away as he makes valid points that you are failing to recognize.

Doc I's plate is captured by the radiator shroud as can be seen in this picture here



based on the size of your picture I cant see the details, but it appears that your plate sits above the shroud or requires the shroud to be removed altogether. Either way, it would appear that your plate would be less effective by creating a gap allowing air to still pass over the top of the radiator. If I am incorrect in this please explain as your pictures are way to small to see any specific detail:



As far as the plate extending past the radiator, it seems like a moot point. The point of the product is to direct air into the radiator. Anything that happens after the radiator would be insignificant in lowering coolant temperatures. If anything, it seems like this was a concious decision by MMW to make the part look better by covering the plastic shrouding which is fine by me. Just dont tell us it make a difference in temperature when it wont.

As far as your calims of this being a performance part, it simply isnt. From the factory, the hood seals the front part of the radiator with rubber weatherstripping from the rest of the engine compartment effectively forcing any air coming in through the grille to pass through the radiator. This in effect eliminates the need to even have a cooling plate. I can see how having the plate can streamline air into the radiator and eliminate a dead spot under the hood but will that have any measurable impact on coolant temperature? Not likely. I have Doc Is plate and I can state there was no difference in my temperatures and I defy somebody to show measureable gains from running the plate vs no plate and especially between your plate and Doc Is. He knew this from the beginning and didnt try to fool people into thinking they would see any difference by posting Drag Coefficient. This simply is a dress up part and yours does look very nice, but seriously you, me and everybody else here doesnt expect to see any difference from the part (yours, docs, greddy or any other) other than the looks.


As I have said before you have a terrible attitude on this board and its only a detriment to your comapny. You are closed minded and stubborn and belittle others in an attempt to prove (to yourslef maybe) your own knowledge. In your header thread
you basically said we would be idiots to install your part with stock exhaust when myself and several others claimed it would be worthwhile. In the end you were dead wrong with a significant 10% hp increase. You also initially posted incorrect dyno numbers showing a lack of knowledge in properly testing your products. In my opinion, this shows you dont know as much as you think you do and only lends to decrease your credibility.

Final thought? Dont treat us like uneducated children and consider our questions as valid. We are here to get the most out of our cars as enthusiast and you stand to make plenty of money from us. Instead of acting like a 75yr old man whos is set in his ways and wont change for anybody, acknowledge, consider and answer our questions thoughtfully because the Scion community, your company and your products will only get better.
