Performance 101
idk if its just me but my tc goes 80 at 4k rpm then i installed an injen CAI and it actually goes 80 at 3.7-3.8k rpm now
heres a pic. this is with the injen intake being at short ram i just recently changed it to short ram due to the crazy rain goin on here in socal. sorry the pictures not exactly perfect its kinda hard to take a picture with a camera phone going 80 on a wet freeway then suddenly lookin up to see ur almost about to rear end an 18 wheeler
yea that is exactly where mine sits and i am stock. at 80 it is not 4000 rpms.
and heres a pic

so your intake does nothing to the rpms

That post I made was so long ago!I totally forgot about this thread. But very good discussion and pics. Thanks for further explaining this. And yeah RPM-to MPH i believe has more to do with gear ratios and not bolt on-hp.
The closest anyone ever got to a 6spd in a tC is a guy once got really close to swapping the transmission from a previous generation Corolla XRS into our car. I believe he totalled the tC before the project could be finished though.
But basically - no you can't just add a gear unless you have a completely redesigned transmission or find one from another car that could somehow be made to fit the tC. The amount of money involved wouldn't really be worth it unless you were fully capable of doing it all yourself.

v-train aside from gearing the another thing that'd slightly affect MPG is if you were to change the tire height/tire profile.
So has anyone taken the leap to install an AR motor, the 2.5L replacement to the 2AZ? It has a 6-speed.
