tC Intake systems - Need an answer
I've seen posts about the K&N Typhoon and the Weapon R totally ruining the car (check engine light, the car going losing major power, ECU resets, ECU learning new power curve, etc).
I need to know who has purchased an intake system for the tC, how everything turned out, and what problems, if any, you had. Thanks everybody!

I had the K&N on my tC. I took it off because I lost power down low which I didnt notice on the dyno sheets.
No CEL, sounds great and the gas milage is increased nicely. Our tC is automatic so the low end power was noticed a lot.
Its for sale, $220 shipped. Its silver.

With most aftermarket intakes you will gain more on the top end but will sacrifce power on the low end. As for causing problems, not really sure on the TC but other vehicles do somtimes have problems. Most of the problems I read have centered around the MAF sensor and it's ability to read the airflow changes quick enough for the ECU and sometimes causes the vehicle to stall. The gain in horspower is somtimes minimal and not worth the loss of low end power in some cars. It is up to each individual to decide what they are looking for in the performance of their car. What ever you decide do your research and be careful.

its a short ram intake, but i have the cold air box from weapon r that sheilds the filter from heat, and a ram air pipe that runs to the front air vent next to the bottom grille so it gets a rush of cold air

PS How much was it and where did you get it from?
go with K&N, they make a great intake system, if you're 5speed you will not lose any performance from a CAI system. you might have to launch a little different (possibily a higher RPM) but the HP and track times will be better.
Your best bet is the AEM intake system for the tC. Hard to find right now, but it's dealer certified--if you get it installed, for about 30.00, it won't void any of your warranty.
K&N generally make great products, but from what I've heard, AEM may have them beat this time.

I do like the bypass valve AEM has, I'm going to try and use it with my K&N intake.
i also would of went with the AEM but they I would of had to wait alot longer, pay more, and pretty much got the same exact thing.
