I have been told that they will not do it. But I havent really dug into it to find out. I seriously doubt they will though. They do not do it for other options.

Ya your most likely right, i just want to think that they will do it. I might just be spending that 3500, but i have to see a dyno first

Just go through another bank, preferrably through a credit union. Maybe you'll end up with a payment close to your original.

Ok....so if the supercharger is supposed to come out in september, why has TRD not released ANY info on it? If TRD hopes to salvage the loss of customers to the people that have gone the turbo route, they will make it at least 220hp at the crank. The only reason I am getting the supercharger is because my dumb@$$ got the 6yr./100,000mile extended warranty

they have released info.....the part numbers are out, the price is out, the scion brochure has had a whole article about the tC supercharger. I went through this whole deal when TRD was making a supercharger for my corolla. There wasn't much info about it until it was released.

they could at least post the gains. TRDsparks has posted 25% increase which is 40 hp, but that does not make sense. IT CAN"T BE TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we assume that the boost will be about 7lbs, that is approximately a 50% increase in air, so at 100% efficiency, would that not make a 50% increase in power? but if it's only making 25% more power (according to TRDSPARKS) then the supercharger is not efficient at all. Is it normal for a supercharger to be that inefficient?

Thanks
Dante

Ok well even if the SC only added around 40 to 50 hp, wouldnt that still be a huge jump, If you look at the chevy cobalt, that only has 205 hp on a 2.0l engine, and they run 14.4 1/4 and 5.9 0- 60, that isnt bad at all, but maybe chevy is really underrating the cobalt? dont know, but i am really hoping for 210-215 whp

Does that boost number matter, the cobalt is still only running 205 hp, so if we were running 6 lbs of boost and making 205 hp, whats the difference?

ok i jus got back from my dealership, and i was talkin to one of the scion salesman that also owned a tc. he told me the complete opposite and he said that he HIGHLY DOUBTS that the supercharger will be released anytime soon. the only progress they made was a price and he told me $3200 for parts and install.

the differance is, if tC's ran at 12psi, then we would have alot more hp than the colbalt

keep in mind, the higher the psi on a daily driver, the easier it is to put wear and tear on the car

break away,

thats what i was saying, so if we only get around 205 hp, with 6 psi we should still run as close to or the same time as the cobalt ss,

But the other guy said the opposite, he said that the cobalt would still be faster than the tc cuz the ss is running 12 lbs of boost, even though the tc has 200 hp,

ok, to sum it up

tc running on 6psi vs cobalt on 12 psi = same
tc running on 12 psi vs colbalt on 12 psi = tc owns

but if you get the trd sc, and it does run psi, and it does give 205 crank hp, you have to spend more money on pulleys, and other accessories to increase the boost to 12 psi

depends on the efficiency of the compressing device. you could run a 14b way out of its efficiency range and not get any good power but if you size the turbo right and have the right wheel it'll outmuscle a different car with a mismatched turbo at the same boost level.

apples vs. apples

if they're smart, they'll continue with the 2az-fe program and just have it boosted from the factory.
