Default tC's: SRI w/ AEM filter size issues

Wsup guys. Got a question.
I have a tenzo R intake, having it as a SRI right now and I purchased an AEM dry air filter. B/c the inlet size for the tenzo is 3 in., i got a 3 x 5 filter and tried to put it on but DAYM! the filter is huge!!! i'm having some issues trying to make it fit and it's ____ing me off haha
Anyone had any issues w/ the AEM filter trying to fit an intake as a SRI?
I know it does not have any problems when the intake is set up as a CAI.
Let me know what you guys did

Some of the Ebay CAI's have this problem too when set up as a short ram. Since you've already got a good filter, there's not much you can do other than cut off an inch of the excess piping.

It won't do any harm. It'll only make it fit. What you'll do is no different than what the original manufacturer does. How much do you need? A half inch? Make an even cut, put the filter over it and you're done.

You can either do it yourself or take it to a machine shop. They won't charge you much more than a few bucks.

yea cutting the pipe will def not do any harm. i picked up a ebay intake, and wanted to put it as a sri. had problems with getting the filter on and it installing just wouldnt fit. i cut most of the piping all the way up to the maf left some of the piping after the maf on it. and worked fine. havent had any issues and have had it on since november last year with no cels or anything. i just used a hand saw. put it in a vice and cut and filed the edges. you shouldnt have any issues. all you doing is just cutting the piping down. shouldnt cause any cels or anything.
