is it possible to remove the valves and lifters while the motor is still in the car. I have looked and researched and is seems that you can just what tools are needed?

 

To remove the valves, you have to remove the head, but yes, you can remove the head with the engine still in the car. Check the service manual for the procedure, as they'll list the tools required for that specific operation.
