AEM F/IC Setup
Im having trouble with my FIC. I had to buy a new one and everytime I go to start the car it wont start without me having to hold the gas down and it backfiring like crazy. I have hex file 104 flash in the fic and a tune my local shop tuned me with. the tune works well under throttle but everytime i come to a stop the rpms would bounce up and down till it finally rested at around 500 rpms then it would stall. only idle and starting the car up are my only problems. with the stock ecu pluged in the car starts right up. can anyone help me out?

does this happen everytime u go to start or just like the second startup of the day or after driving...
because with the fic get used to cranking the car over about 3 times and a loud backfire on the second crank.... u can get it to start on 3rd or 4th crank.
try hitting the gas a witht he ignition on the on position and then turn the key over but dont keep the gas pedal down
With stock ecu the car starts fine. Would tune effect the how the car starts? And if i flash the fic with with slave 1.04 will it mess up the tune that was already on the fic before the flash?
thanks guys for the tips. I actually found out what was wrong with it, I had to add extra ground wire to my battery. Weird but it work. Now the car starts right up without giving it gas or anything. Anyone else ever have this problem with the FIC plugged in?
I said it bad last time lol. The harness that comes with the aem fic do I have to tap that harness into the pnp harness cause its not making sense to me sorry lol I had emanage ultiimate and that was easy

you have a pnp harness?
or do you have a harness extension?
if you have a true pnp harness you just plug it in...if you have a harness extension then yes you will need to use the universal harness to tap into the harness extension.
if you are going with the harness extension I would find someone with a pnp harness and copy it pretty much wire for wire. (use the correct year of course to copy off of.)

thats one of those things that i dont get requests about...I intended to do a write up on it but it seemed everyone already understood how to do it. not to mention its been explained a few times in the thread already though youll have to dig around for it. If i have the time in the next upcomeing weeks ill do a proper diy.

here is a pic that kinda explains it...
take this wire

and connect it to 0-5v output from gauge
some pnp harness do not have this wire in this connector so youll have to either pull a wire and pin from a universal harness (hard to do and sometimes both tiny tabs break off and you have to try it again). or you can order up some pins and crimp your own wire to slip into the correct hole.
if im not mistaken the pic shows you pin 18 of the 22pin connector. this is the location for aux gauge (wideband)
however the fic still needs to be calibrated to the wideband...ill have to do a write up on all this.
