Yeah those buttons are just awful.

 

yeah tell me about it...also if that button becomes stuck it will not even allow you to connect to the fic....stuck button renders the fic useless (just a paper weight)

 

hey quick question, im unable to connect to my fic for some reason. i usually use my other lap top to connect and it connects perfect but that computer had to get sent in bc the screen was messed up or w/e. now im on a dif. laptop and im doing the same thing as i did with the other one and its not connecting i keep getting this message wen im about to connect to the fic


Failed to locate a functioning FIC.

The problem might be the PC and FIC are not connected or-
the PC has assigned a com-port above 16.

Correct the problem and try again!


and honestly i dont kno wat the part of "PC has assigned a com-port 16."

if anyone can help me out thanks a lot. i do have internect connection thats y i am on here right now in my car but im just trying to connect and it wont let me. hmm..

 

its one of three things thats going on....

1. the pc that your using doesnt have the plugin to be able to connect to the fic...

fix= download the plugin from the internet (you can do a quick search or go to www.aempower.com and search the forums for it or a link to it.)

2. the reflash button is pushed in and stuck that way...

fix= either take it apart and fiddle with the little button or send it to me

3. the usb cable may be damaged

fix= get a new one or jiggle the connected end

 

oh there is one more, if this pc that your on is running the latest fic software and the fic hasnt been flashed with the latest it can cause a conflict...

fix= reflash the fic with x300.hex (it can be found on the aem forums...ill post a link to it).

now if you try to reflash and you still get the msg that it cant connect to fic then this isnt the issue.

the pc i uploaded with the plugins already and my fic has the latest software , the cable is farely new and i've used it before and still use it for the printer bc its the same cable. i did not check the flash button but i only used it once to flash it with the x300.hex wen i received it. and after i did that i connected to the FIC already using a dif laptop and it worked perfectly fine no message like this came up. i'll try and see whats goin on and i'll post back up what happends,

 

another possibility ..... that USB port is fried .... try the other one.

can the FIC tuning program run on a mac or am i going to have to do parallels or something.... i have a desktop pc but a mac laptop...

 

also if someone would send me some base maps to learn off of i would greatly appreciate it

i dont think its mac compatable but i think most macs have a program that will allow it to run...im not very knowledgable with the mac so perhaps someone els can give you some better info

that same com port above 16 thing happ to me when i used my friends laptop once....

Wats goin on is that the for the fic to communicate it has to be assigned a com port from 1-16...you can check out wat your computer is assigning to each port thru the system menu and USB interface....it took me a good 20 mins to realize that whenever u plug a device into the pc such as an ipod or camera it assigns a port. So if all ports from 1-16 are usedur screwed

in my case i looked at my usb settings and saw the fic in port 17...i deleted port 16's device and restarted my computer and then the pc connected with the fic

ya the shop near me wants $500 for a tune unless I could get a base map then they could just tweek some things on the dyno. which would save me a lot more money. I'm just trying to get my turbo in before school starts and i'm a bit short on cash so i was hoping someone could help me out.

dont do the nitrous thing especially on a base tune

i suggest getting the tuning done with the turbo and then step it up...idk how you plan to use the n2o...if say your running (or plan on) a large turbo you may want to use a shot to help get into the upper rpms so the turbo will spool faster but have the n2o shut down once the turbo is fully spooled. in this case i would say give your lower portions of the fuel map extra fuel.

now if your going to use the n2o for the top end (upper rpms) then you want to add extra fuel on the top end (duhh...lol)

btw you can use the fic to sorta controle your n2o...its pretty much a window switch thats adjustable...look up my diy on fic shift light and its the same thing pretty much.

sorry but i dont give out maps anymore...peeps dont understand that a base map is just that and its only function is to get you to the tuner. pm me ill explain more.
