It's the plugs. With what you have right now the 1 step should be fine.

They're just plugs, change them, that is your problem and then go back to the two step later on when you build.

Dude...did your brother get ahold of your account again? You dont' know how to change your spark plugs?
I don't mean to bust your *****, but there were quite a few things I didn't know how to do, but some things I would NOT post up on a public forum! Like, I didnt' know how to properly use jumper cables, but I didnt' want anyone to know, so instead of posting the question on a forum that I frequent, I just did a few internet searches!
That's like asking how to do an oil change, or how to I change my tire!

anyway...it's late...and I'm tired. sorry about that!

check the plugs... if they look like any of these
http://images.google.com/images?q=fo...=1&sa=N&tab=wi

you most likely need to replace them

Also, check all your couplers and vac lines. When I used to have a recirculate BOV, my car did the same thing. I know you don't have one which makes me lean more towards the plugs.

To take the plugs out you need a long socket, extender and a wrench. Take off your engine cover (plastic thing) and unbolt and twist off the black rubbery things (coil packs) take the wrench and unbolt the plugs one by one checking them for any signs of being fouled out.

FYI, they sell specific spark plug sockets that have a rubber ring to help get the sparkplug out of its home. Also, DO NOT let any dirt get in the engine...
