Nah, I'm not fed up just yet. To me its just a bump in the road lol. Once I get over it it should 'hopefully' be smooth from here on out.

Anyway, I've about the K1 rods, and people aren't recommending 'em.

I think at least 300whp would be my goal, 400 is nice, but I don't have the desire to make that much power.

I'm just wanting to get the car running right now. Hopefully it's just the piston and ring when they open it up, nothing more.

So far I'm thinking about getting:

-CP Pistons/rings
-Manley Turbo tuff rods
-ARP Head studs
-Haven't researched much about bearings, but the ACL main and rod bearings

And I also have 750 injectors and a 255walbro fuelpump sitting around that I'll also throw in for the rebuild.

Ah I'd rather just go with the rebuild. There's just that possibility that I might blow another piston and ring

So what are the possibilities of problems coming again if I go through with the rebuild? Pistons, rings, rods, main and rod bearings, upgraded head studs and bolts.

Anything that can happen?

My parents keep encouraging me to take off the turbo, find a good motor and be done with it. Just take the loss.

I don't want to give up, but they just try and encourage not to rebuild.

try it, if all goes bad then give up. But you never know until you try. Built motors go bad cuz of shops that don't know how to put engines together right or a bad tune over time.

He said piston and rings are out in the 4th cylinder, might as well just upgrade all of 'em eh?

Any recommendations?
Were the injectors installed used? ALWAYS get used injectors flow tested and cleaned man. Definately get it done, or the same thing can happen to your built motor.

Yes the injectors were used, how do I flow test them and clean 'em?

Thanks for the tip.

There's shops online you can send em to (Injector clinic) being one of them its usually $15-$20 an inector and they test em out clean em put new orings and such. You never know the condition of a used injector. Maybe you ran really lean cuz of leaking injectors..who knows?

Well plans at this point is to rebuild the engine. The shop I first quoted for labor got me for ~2200-2300 for labor and machine work, then later changed their quote for 3000, they never gave an explanation, so i know I'm not going back.

I contacted a reputable shop on the other side of town, and their quote was a ballpark price of ~1700. Sounded great to me.

I'm looking at ~1500-1600 for parts possibly, CP Pistons, Manley Turbo Tuff Rods, ACL Main & Rod bearings, ARP head studs and bolts, and a new OEM gasket.

But I won't find out what's really wrong I guess until the shop will open up the block to see what's up.

On another note, the battery died, no clue to why that happened. So I had to push the car out of the garage to wash it and push it back in.

if im not mistaken it did that on junious car aswell. never got to play with his car long enough to figure out why. may be for the same reason that will happen with the auto tc's. Its been a while but I think it happend to 05-06 auto tc's. search about it on here and youll see the typical fix for that if indeed it is the same issue.

btw just my 2 cents but iv built a few 2azfe engines with k1 rods running at 300hp, they fit the bill quit nicely. always check the big end for clearance (and small end for that matter). Prolly not the absolute best rod on the market but with arp 2000 hardware and the ability to hold up to 300+ you cant beat it at its current price point.
The rods you have in mind are stout little bastards but pricey.
All in all its a nice build you have planned and I sincerly wish you the best of luck

Thanks Crush, best keywords to search for? Or any threads you can link?

I already tried looking before, but haven't found nothing yet.

Thanks in advance.

Finally brought the car to a shop, gonna be having the motor fully rebuilt.

Getting CP Pistons, Manley rods, acl main & rod bearings, and they're gonna boil clean the cylinder head, valve job, resurface the cylinder head, boil clean block, polish the crank, bore & hone cylinder and more...

It's gonna take a few days to get some parts, shop wants to get the OEM gasket set for the block, it's gonna take ~10-12 days for it to arrive.

Hoping to make good power out of this setup. How much would you guys expect out of this?

Good luck on your rebuild, hope everything good well and you car is back on the road running smoothly. With you motor being built you should be able to hit your goal, even be around the high 300's.

Dont forget an OEM headgasket.

350whp-550whp easy with supporting mods. I would get bigger injectors and a fuel pump while your at it. Post pics of your build!!!

Awesome, I do have a walbro 255 pump and 750 injectors laying around. Would 400whp be realistic with this setup and be able to run safe?
