ya ur gonna spank an evo at the quarter mile? think not... an evo 9 can make 500 on stock motor. can a tc? and evo has a sexy wing and wider square looking body.. a tc's rear end looks like a _____. An evo's front even looks nicer and ALOT meaner especially the 9 bumper..
this is the evo i got my eye on.

sooner or later the scion will fall apart.. its inevitable..
no but my built motor can hold 500hp....either way...i spent less money for 500hp then you will spend buying an evo and hitting 500hp....evo's are slow in a 1/4 mile...sure they get the jump...but they run out so fast.
2) evo's weren't designed to be 1/4 mile monsters.
the evo is not sexier than the tc. mitsubishi has terrible build quality, and their interiors are absolute crap. the evo's performance is well above the tc for obvious reasons. but there are some interesting quirks about the evo you might want to look into.
like the transfer case. they by design wear out and go bad, especially if you drag race them. they are the weak point in the drivetrain, and yet for some reason, there isn't a stronger aftermarket version available, and mitsubishi only sells the whole transfer cause, not just the gears, for i think 4 grand. and it will inevitably break AGAIN. the evo is a great race car, but it seems like the maintenance and cost of replacing parts on them is rediculous.
now the STI, that is the car to get. better engine, build quality, looks, interior compared to the evo. sounds better to with that distinctive exhaust. some of the evo's i autocross with sound like tractors.

umm working at a subaru specialty shop with one of the best subbie tuners on the east coast i can say your wrong. and your also wrong, in that SHEP has an aftermarket transfer case. STI's spin rod bearings like no other.. how do i know? because a different one comes in each day with that done and we build the motor. STI's also leak oil from factory... not to mention they are expensive as hell to build, main reason is nobody wants to deal with them. we offer a fully built motor cheaper than any other shop in FL and its still alot more than what a scion's would cost. I know where your coming from.. i used to defend scion all the time.. and then i stepped into reality.
i admit ive had problems with my tc...but they were owner error...my own fault....other then that no problems with 96k miles on it....been boosted since 45k and built since 90k
uh yea.....so it was 700hp....not what you were talkin about earlier.......
what did i say earlier? i didnt say anything.. u said evos are slow in the quarter? i can give u a handful of BOLT ON evo's that will rape any tc in the quarter mile on this forum.. (mikes car isnt done yet) and chris rados drag tc doesnt count.
I defend no car at all personally. I tell it how I see it. For the dollar and what it gives, the tC is a good platform to start. For a mere $5,000-10,000 on top of the $18,000 car you can have a 500whp tC with a built engine, standalone and all. That still is FAR better than the EVO X or STi
i never said that the STI was faster than the evo, but between the two of them, i choose the STI, it is nicer inside and out. better built. subaru is doing much better world wide, while mitsubishi is pondering pulling out of the US market.
you say sti's spin rod bearings? well 2nd gen DSM's have epic crank walk. mitsubishi also had the infamous f-file incident where they were hiding problems with there cars when they should have issued a recall.
now, i said the tc, purely from a cosmetic standpoint and interior quality standpoint is sexier than the evo. evos are by purpose are very spartan in their interiors for weight and such. but yeah, the evo can and will beat a tc in every form of racing i can think of.
now are evo's faster than sti's and easier to mod, yes, they are. but they seem to be considerably less reliable. even C&D editor larry webster was driven to his witts end with his evo competting in SCCA events with his own evo.
oh, also, interesting fact about mitsubishi, they would send people to club races and write down VIN numbers so they could void the warranty for the new owners competing in autocross and the like.
and looking at the results from my latest autocross...i beat 2 out of 9 evos at the last event!
going back farther, i still manage to beat evos (and sti's), either i'm a great driver, or they are terrible drivers, but oh well. that is with the supercharger too, imagine what i can do with a turbo!
