Ya, I put Mr Meaty in touch with a Tuner that is willing to come to vegas. The more cars you have to tune the cheaper (travel cost) it will cost each of you. He has experience with Turbo'd TC's using the AEM FIC..... After his tune I got 368 WHP and ran a 13.03 at 108 in the heat of the day and at mile high. It is pretty tricky to tune TC's , the factory ECU is a bit challenging.

If I make any updates to this thread it loses it's stick status. There some electrical faq's on that first page though.

What are you guys specifically looking for? I can always add some.

I think this thread is as good as any to post these questions:
You already said you like to keep AFRs between the 11.5 - 12.2 range, but is that at partial and WOT? Or is it better to be in the 12 for partial and in the 11s for WOT?

Also, I know stoich is 14.7, but I was wondering what harm (or benefits) there may bee of have a richer or leaner reading when not in boost? I mean, is it safe to have your AFR read 17 as long as your not in boost, and as long as your AFR drops to the 11s when in boost? Would this increase gas mileage?

I think 17 too lean, can overheat and potentially damage your engine.

17 too lean for out of boost? Is overheating the only possible damage?

I have 3 different tunes, one is perfectin boost but goes way lean out of boost.
The other is OK in boost, but goes way rich (10s) when out of boost. The third one is perfect all the time but it throws a code after 2 days, so then my out off boost is fine but my in boost is kinda lean, except at wot.

Just trying to decide which tune to use till my tuner gets his shop back up and running.

I am not an expert in tunning but 17 sounds kind of high. Also, you are talking about wot or what do you use to tune on partial throttle?

AEM F/IC can tune off boost, partial and WOT.
17 is NOT in boost (tune for a different setup) and my partial is around 13 and WOT in the 11s.

I went ahead and put my original tune on cause I noticed that with this one, when I really step on it, my AFR drop below 10 and it sputters and boggs.

back to the drawing board!

I thought I saw post from someone mentioning, the electrical guide would outline the wiring system.

What are the prime locations to tap wires for gauges, turbo timer and alarm systems?

It would be a great DIY for people looking to install there own gauges withing having to worry about messing something up.

I would love it, because ever since I got my gauges and alarm system installed at the shop (no longer in business) I got my Turbo Kit done, they messed up my entire electrical system. My windows and sliding roof continue to get power after the car has been turned off. My car can no longer keep a charge for even 24 hours. The electrical wire guide would help me rewire the gauges and alarm and possibly eliminate my current problem.

Are you sure your 17:1 is not Decel Fuel Cut Off?

No, when I'm decelerating, with my foot off the gas, no matter what tune, it goes lean off the chart.
My $hit will be 17 when I'm cruizing on the freeway!

I switched back to my original tune but it sits at 10-11 at idle, and at cruizing. My $hit's just all jacked up right now.

That is decel fuel cut. That is normal.

Yeah, I know it's not RIGHT! I want to know if it's BAD!
so far the concessis is yes. So I switched back, but all my tunes are running crappy right now. I'm just gonna pull my 02 sensor and bring the CEL back on so that at least my out of boost AFRs are correct.
I'm just haveing all sorts of issues with the AEM F/IC since my tuner is in between shops right now, and no one in Vegas seems to even want to touch a tC.

Wow, bunch of questions I need to address!

I will answer them in detail tomorrow (it's 1am here right now).

Mr Meaty... I think we should talk either on the phone or through AIM to discuss the what you may be experiencing. My AIM is DezodJoe. My cell is 480-678-0856 if you have questions regarding your tune.

As a quick answer, 17 is way too lean. It will cause significant power loss and over heating. This can damage piston rings and your valvetrain. 15 is about as lean as I would go.

We tune for the high 11s to low 12s at WOT for 8-11psi. It keeps temperatures in the right range, and is usually least prone to knock. If you go richer, it may start to increase EGTs which is not the best thing to have. You also lower fuel efficiency and power output. Go leaner than this and the tC motor starts to detonate.

I will explain more tomorrow.

Thanks, Joe. I'm going to try and call you some time today, but can I call after normall business hours? like 8:00 tonight? Or is that family time for you?

Also, if I sent you the 3 different maps I have and explained to you how different they run, could you provide me some pointers on where I can start changing numbers to fix my out off boost AFRs?
