If you can physically see the seal, write down the part number off the seal as it will be stamped on it...

Garage...I do agree with him. It is just the fact that they didn't stress it enough when they told the dealers how to install. They should have a warning on the box, on the front cover of the directions, and a tag on the supercharger itself...

ordering a new seal? How?? They don't sell just the seals, you have to replace the whole unit.

Talking to TRD is going to be useless I don't think they will ever take the fault on themselves.

If the problem TRULY IS an install issue, then the documentation here is 100% thoroughly inadequate for these installs. The failure rate in here speaks for itself.

And TRD is still on the hook for that.

But to date, there's no tech bulletins regarding this issue, no addendums to the documentation, nothing.

I don't know about THAT... Let's call it what it is at this point - a broken bracket.

What's out of hand is how it's being mishandled.

I am getting my bracket fixed this comming week - monday - tuesday - or wed.

I hope trd does do something about this because dealers are taking the hit. Honestly - if it doesnt say word for word what the dealers "should have done durning the install" (meaning the torque issue) i think that its 100% not their fault. Come on guys (trd) ..... put it in the intructions and tell the dealer that they didn't read them correctly ....dont tell them they should be mind readers.

a couple problems i see here; one is no info being passed on to sc owners about even a "potential" problem, second is no bulletin sitting at each Toyota garage ( that i'm aware of ) to check this part when a car is in for any service. To the first, think how many sc owners out there that do not regularly read/post on this site..... how would they know about this issue until theirs breaks? And to the second, there are enough of these breaking that should at least warrant the dealers being made aware to look for this ( whether the dealers get reimbursed or not is their issue, not ours ). And yes I know many out there do their own oil changes, etc so the first point would cover them as well.
Not saying i'm right on this and we're still happy with our sc, but I will say we should NOT have to check our cars out each day to look for problems..... I paid 3-4k not to do that.

well, the thread with the leaking S/C caused a notice about torqing the bolts
we know someone that could put something into motion has at least looked at the pictures.
first there was discovery, then the blame game, and eventually they did something to try and stop it from happening and people started finding other stuff out on their own, how many charger are still leaking oil in the aftermath of it???

this thread may just do the same, there was already a "friend of a cousin" type relay of a stronger bracket in the hopper. and a modded bracket was already made.
its like the seals al over again

*continue with frustration release and whatnot....

Sorry guys, I never had issues with my car but I didnt drive it much to begin with. I just cant stand wondering when it was going to happen to me. That is total B.S. that we cant have peace of mind. I got the car not to race or rice it out but to have a unique and reliable type of transportation. I mean I put almost all th options TRD had and it cost a pretty penny. In the end I think I could of gotten a $30,000 car. I found a person who really liked the car and had the cash to buy it so the Scion is now gone. You might call me crazy but I figure you only live once, so I went and got me a NEW Corvette. Now I have plenty of power and the car seems pretty solid. Cant beat a great deal. I really hope that TRD helps the Scion community out. They will take your money without hesitation but will they remember you when a hand is needed? Who knows the Vette might turn out to be the same way and if it does screw it I will begin taking the bus or walking wherever I go! Good luck guys.

Yep, chances are it will. See if they'll let you keep the old one and bring it to a welding shop. That's what i'm doing.

Just picked mine up today and will be replacing it tomorrow.

My bracket came in today at my Uncles work, will be getting it installed next week. Along with a fresh set of BFGoodrich G-Force Sports, got them for $91 per tire.
