yes that us the science reason for why things break. But what is the reason? To much boost, over tightened bolts, bad install, bad part, glove box was open while making a right hand turn on red?

There has to be a reason. And that reason will determine what happends with warranties.

that one hasnt been looked into yet but that might be it.

It also might be that the torque specs were wrong (meaning the person who installed the charger didnt torque things right). Everybody thinks its funny that im big on torque specs .... till things go wrong.

got my 5sp s/c back today. for those in dfw, jory guynes at toyota of dallas is a pretty cool dude. he let me borrow the new bracket to shop it to my buddy witha cnc machine. my buddy wasnt in town this weekend, but his associate gave me a ballpark price for a steel custom fab cnc bracket. anyways, jory kinda understands us ultra-picky car-nuts dudes, and is cooperative as he can be (and still be employed at an actual dealership).

anyways, so far, so good. i took her up to 107 just to blow out the carbon, and no crack so far. heading to kc on sunday (to take care of grandma, seriously). will update u guys with any changes/breaks or if i get more info on a steel cnc.

-oh what a feeling!

got the car back earlier. bracket looks the same BUT dont take it the wrong way. (meaning i wasnt able or given the chance to compare old and new bracket.)

dont ask me to take pix of it either. i lost my mojo with the sc.

big props to the dealer tho because they gave me 0(zero) hassle with going thru warranty.

no cost to fix and free 05 camry rental.

Yo guys. Dealer "big two toyota scion" has promised me two days in a row a phone call about the warranty. Total waste of time. I said screw it and took it over to the awsome guys at INTENSEPOWER.COM "yeah that was a major plug haha" and the bad @ss fab guy took a look at it and thought the same as I, it was a bad cast job. The break was really funny looking, the grain of each side was odd like the aluminum did not flow correct. Well he sure as heck fixed me up big time! Now I can rest assured I will never have an issue again! He braced the crap out of it.

2.) Is my car still kool to drive around untill I do get it fixed?

oh my god, this is crazy, this many breaking. I need to check mine again today. Grage nice pictures so we have a reference if it happens to us. How is the removal of the bracket to have it welded , if it comes down to that.

06superwhite, let us know how it turns out.

stock or modded, we should NOT have to check over our cars every dam day.... routine checks sure, but constantly?? I'm half tempted to leave ours stock, and just drive the snot out of it and let them deal with any repairs under warranty... except my luck i'd do the beating, but it would break down while the wife is driving it.
hopefully enough of these things go that Toyota needs to at least do a service bulletin ( not that I want anyone out there to break ) on it...... or make it an item they check for when a car is in for an oil change or whatever...
so now everytime we "enjoy" the sc, should we quick pull over and inspect it????
that is starting to sound like the old days..... which weren't always the 'good' old days...

Well look!

As some of you know, I have my own webserver to host my images. I took a cursory search through my IIS logs and found the following IP hitting those 2 images in this thread:

Name: tmspxy04.toyota.com

Here's the reverse ARIN info:

UUNET Technologies, Inc. UUNET63 (NET-63-64-0-0-1)
63.64.0.0 - 63.127.255.255
Toyota Motor Sales, UU-63-87-74 (NET-63-87-74-0-1)
63.87.74.0 - 63.87.74.255

# ARIN WHOIS database, last updated 2006-09-06 19:55
# Enter ? for additional hints on searching ARIN's WHOIS database.

Logfile entries:

would be nice for them to see that there is an issue with this because it is clearly the weak link in the s/c setup as a whole. The design is a tad off ... all that pressure is going to have a lot of us back to the dealer for warranty work. Less then 2k miles and the piece is cracking? .... it will just get worse.
