ya well imo the stock airbox looks hideous

 

wow.. my first post on scion life. i own a 2005 tiburon decently modded and am an admin over on newtiburon.com ..... but... i am thinking of getting a tC w/ the factory TRD installed.

just wanted to say, seems like a pretty niftly little car and for the most part it seems like everyone is happy w/ the TRD s/c. Is there anything as a first time owner/buyer w/ a s/c setup I should be warned about?

I see some of you say the 07 can't come w/ the s/c...... however.... my dealer says they can install it for an 07 at/tC. hmmm.

dunno about the supercharger fitting an '07 yet.
has the 2007 supercharger been released????
there were changes to the 2007 tC and the supercharger that they had for the pre-'07 tCs wont fit. (like the MAF sensor is smaller and the exhaust manifold is different and will hit the S/C shaft .)

 

Don't get your hopes up on getting a s/c for an 07 tC any time soon. If it's like the first release of the s/c in 05, we may be waiting a long time before it comes out.

 

trd claims a kit will be out later this year...more like by the summer.

 

We've heard that before with the first s/c setup, lol. More than a year later, it finally came out. But hopefully TRD actually sticks with the schedule this time.

 

hmm.... i see the same thing is true for every dealer... they don't know **** b/c this one is trying to sell me the s/c for an 07..... btw.... this dealer has NEVER installed a s/c before on a scion. that scares me too.



scion_jon.... compared to the tib, how do you like your scion? i am in LOVE w/ my tibby and selling her is going to be the hardest thing i will ever do. she just is too temprimental. i think the 05s w/ the returnless fuel systems are a nightmare to mod. i constantly throw bank 1 and 2 lean w/ just an intake and stage III manifolds.

 

imho the trannies on the tibs are lemons, i replace 2 each on both of mine, my scion is soooo much faster than the tib, i beat a v6 by a car and it was great. all in all i like the style of the tibs, what can be done to them, but i like my scion a hell of a lot more

 

are you able to finace the car with the S/C ??

 

Not unless you have $4000(S/C price + install) to put as a down payment.

 

I kinda figure that... a dealer told I could but today when I went to the trd site, they say you can't finace the S/C with the car...

 

I used to be a member of newtiburon.com, so I do like the tibs. The tc is just a lot cleaner and fits my taste a lot more. I read up every now and then but rarely ever post. If you do get the s/c, don't be fooled by TRD's 200hp advertised numbers. Some are getting that to the wheels with the factory 7lb pulley.

 

^^^^ oh yea MOST people that read and understand, realize the change in reference with the numbers.
160 at the crank and 200 at the wheels IS NOT "just a 40hp increase".

so your saying with the s/c, i'll have 200 whp from stock. I need to make a decision soon about the s/c or the turbo. So if you're telling me from stock if i put the s/c in i'll have 200whp? If that's true im gonna get it and keep my warranty

 

you will have about 200hp yes. it may be more it may be less.
well it might be more but it has a little more of a chance that it could be less....... it really depends what your car was putting out stock before the supercharger.

the gain is more in the area of 55-60hp at the wheels that you get with the supercharger.

 

The warranty is all fun and games untill some very costly repairs come along. Just be prepared for the worst if you go turbo. Being s/c'd also has it's perks.

 

I bought an 07 tC back in October. I bought the TRD SC as well at that time. I just recently emailed TRD and they told me there is no current ETA for the sc yet. So it's pretty much anybody's guess to when it's comming out.
