yeah, i have the pdf for swapping the ECU and programming it to a key, emailed it to the shop and everything.

okay update time!

the radiator is on the car, but even with the mishamoto shroud, it is too close to the turbine housing, so they're going to trim the support brackets to tilt it further forward for about another 1/2 inch of clearance, should be wrapped up tonight. they told me i should probably get a turbine blanket for the turbo, which i am browsing for right now...hopefully everything will be wrapped up tonight, and it will be tuned in the morning.

oh, and it sounds like they're going to tune the junkyard ECU since the TRD ecu looks like it is fighting the tune.

so for all of those who hate the trd ecu, you're in luck, gues i could sell the reflashed ecu along with the supercharger since the reflash module is a one time use only.

People have tuned the TRD ECU with good results though. Just letting people know it can be done. Good luck with the car, lady luck just hasn't been with you recently.

haha mine works perfectly. Besides a fuel pressure problem that has to do with my fuel pump, it runs great. At first I thought my ECU was messing my tune up, but turned out that my Walboro255 was broken. New one in and it is almost perfect. This winter when i do the return system, it should be butter.

you have the fic and trd flashed ecu? should talk to that shop and tell them how to do it.

thing is and i know this as a fact, the trd flash takes out a good amount of timing and for good reason. The fic cannot advance timing so there for whatever timing is taken out by the flash you cant get back with the fic...maybe you could get away with it on e-ultimate or standalone.

on one hand you could say "why not leave the timing as is"...well you could and hey it is fine but its a power killer. Rule of thumb is -2 degrees of timing for every 1 psi of boost via supercharger, turbocharged its -1...(this is just rule of thumb so you can see where I'm coming from). so you can see that a supercharged car needs to take out more timing than turbocharged car. Why? well heat is the primary reason and with the supercharger being offered by Toyota/trd they are going to tone it down even further to keep from having claims (kinda ironic...lmao). No one that i know of has all the info of what the flash entails but evidence can be seen via a scangauge or other device how much timing is taken.

its pretty cool you were able to do what others have failed to do...all i can say is good job.

Well the downside to the TRD ECU is that yeah, I wasnt able to make much power from it, but enough to still be competitive at the track and whatnot. I eventually will be ditching it when I get an EMS, but that wont be until next summer.

okay...so after much waiting...the radiator and fans work well they said, they told me they let it heat cycle a few times to get coolant through the system, and the fans kicked on quickly and water temps went right down.

then, they finally just now "married" the junkyard ecu to the transponder key, the car starts and idles now. tomorrow morning it gets tuned, it is already strapped to the dyno, so as soon as the tuner gets there tomorrow morning, it'll be tuned, the car will be good to go, and i'll have a new thread with pictures and a sweet dyno sheet. keeping my fingers crossed, hopefully i can get some sleep tonight.

yawn...so i don't know what to make of everything right now. car made 250-260 whp at 6-7 psi, but they don't have any dynosheets to give me, something with printer computer errors whatever. kinda annoying.

but they tuned the junkyard ecu. car runs much better now. no hesistation off the line at all, it doesn't bog down and nearly stall everytime like it did before.

they said it still occasionally stalls, and they can't figure out why, and think it is due to the intake manifold, so i'll maybe have to ask decendant if they know a way to help cure that problem if it is. i wish we could put the stock one back on, but it got sawed in half durring removal. so that isn't an option.

the car seems to be keeping its cool, though it does heat up quite quickly at a stop just like before, but it is a very tight fit in there between the turbo, shroud, and radiator.

but for some reason, the stalling issue went from better to worse very quickly. maybe it is the pesky ecu relearning everything. drove down to laurel, and on the way there, the car ran fine not stalling, it was idling rich at about 13 a/f, but it was idling, only using about .34 GPH according to the scangauge. but then on the way home, it was just about back to the way it was, it would now idle at about 14.5 a/f, and then for a while it was at 10-11 a/f but then back to 14.5 a/f.

i'm pretty upset about all this. they said they spent alot of time tuning it and that this stalling problem is not solvable with tuning on the f/ic apparently. kinda annoyed. not sure what to do next. open to suggestions.

I have been following this thread, I honestly think you should take it to ptuning. I find it hard to believe that they can't solve those problems.

Arghhhh. You already paid for the Tune so Its there responsiblity to FIX the issue, i highly doubt the descendant intake Mani is trouble, they build those things pretty well. Take it back to the shop on Monday, Say this:

Heres the car Ill come pick it up at the end of the day it should be fixed, tuning shouldnt take 4 to 5 days

If they can't fix the issue ask for your money back

You paid for a proper tune not some half assed one

Try the resistor mod for the F/IC if you havent already done so.

maybe just needs a new tuner.. the shroud fan and fan setup looks great, what fans are you using?

question how thick is that mishimoto shroud?
