Default 2007 tC head unit in a 2005

The head unit in our car stopped ejecting discs, so I'm going to replace it. I'm not really interested in going aftermarket unless replacing with an OEM unit turns out to be too much trouble.

I've got access to a 2007 head unit, and I'm wondering if the wiring will just work without any cutting.

There were steering wheel buttons and aux input added after 2005, correct? Does this mean the 2007 unit wont be a direct drop-in replacement?

I don't care about getting the aux input or any other new features.

The wire harness will be the same and plug right in. Im not too sure if your AUX will give the radio problems since you dont have the plug for it. But I am sure you can get the cable from the dealership. I hope the radio will not cost you too much money. Factory radios are expensive and not that great.

An aftermarket might be really good for you and cheaper, allowing you to grow your audio system in the future. Some have a USB thats really nice for an ipod. It will charge your ipod and play all your songs directly, allowing you to choose from album, artist, song etc.

As for expense, it's only $35, used of course... but it was taken out of the car the day it came off the lot, so it might as well be brand new. If I were going aftermarket, I'd probably be spending upwards of $200-250.

There was a time when I was all about spending thousands on car audio, but now I'm an old fart, and the only sound system I care about is the one in my house.

LOL gotta love the old farts. Jk. You will be fine the 05 didn't have steering wheel controls or the ipod-aux option so u wont miss that. I replaced mine a few years back with a premium n it worked just fine
