Amp hookup trouble... where is the hole in the firewall?

Default Amp hookup trouble... where is the hole in the firewall?

Im pacing around the car trying to find where I run the power cable for my amp from the engine bay into the drivers side interior and I dont see where the wires go through. It was easy as hell to do on the xB.

Does anybody have a guide link for this or a closeup picture of where the wiring goes through?

the grommet under the drivers dash. you will have to cut a little slit into it to get the wire through. it is very high on the firewall. it is above the TB in the engine bay

You don't have to cut anything if you slip the wire between the edge of the grommet and the hole in the firewall. I got a bunch of wires going through there.

As a certified installer let me offer you fair warning. Be VERY careful when you do that. The metal edge that that grommet is now pushing your wire against could very easily cut the plastic or rubber coating on the outside of the wire, especially if have Bass Vibration assisting. If thats a power wire, it will at minimum blow some fuses, but could be alot worse if the line is not fused.

i was about to say the same thing. please do not correct me with wrong information. if you splice that wire with it rubbing the firewall... and the fuse dont stop it... KABOOM!

make a small slice in ur grommet, and run the wire though SAFE.

borismo, i suggest you put an inline fuse on every wire you have that go through ur firewall in the manner.

I forgot to mention that I do use a mini-grommet around the wire itself to protect it from the firewall and ofcourse always use an inline fuse on my power wires. This way if I ever remove the wiring, I don't have a hole in the stock grommet.

i used some platic crommet coveers from the water cooling kint in my computer for the firewall hole behind the driverside strut and wired my amp and fogs through there.
