hm... suposedly, using the older model, avic n1, you can search out address by simply using a phone number...

does the D1 also have that feature??

You can do that with the D1 also. I think it's just business addresses though.

Do either have iPod compatibility? Do either retain iPod's menus and whatnot? I would rather get a portable one that I can swap between cars but if the D1 or eclipse unit is as iPod functional as the dealer optional Pioneer HU than .. yea, I'l buy one.

I assume both still retain steering wheel control use?

Nice pics. I saw the pioneer for the first time at tweeter today and wasn't that impressed. I really don't need the nav that much so I will probably get the eclipse avn since the dvd and everything is all in one unit.

I had both unit and kept the D1 because overall it is a better unit. The steering wheel controls do not work unless you do something extra. I know this because mine did not work with the Eclipse period .

rite rite, I didn't install it my self bcuz $100 for 2 yrs warranty extra, hahahah
I took it out, ahahaha, very simple, only 1 extra wire, and the steering wheel works as champ :`love:

BTW, Eclipse (Fujitsu Ten) is a high end namebrand, and always better than Pioneer, no matter what you say. Period. Ask people around here, make a poll or sth, Eclipse vs. Pioneer, heheheh! just my .02

Bro I don't have to ask which one is better because I had both units and the D1 is much better than the Eclipse. Believe what you wanna believe and you paid how much for the Eclipse? Way to much I bet. I got my D1 for just over $900
