Question, I heard that when the car is in motion the DVD wont play and if it's already playing it will stop. However, you can unplug a certain wire or DO SOMETHING to disable it, can anyone confirm this and tell me how? Thx

the answer is yes you can on certain model dvd dash units. you just tie it to ground and enjoy at your own risk. i wouldnt recommend drive while watching at all because as soon as you get into an acident someone might accuse you of watching a dvd and it could get messy from that point forward. i know the pioneer avic d1 unit doesnt allow that luxury but you can by pass it by buying a standalone dvd unit and send through an auxilary port.

all the eclipse, kenwoods, valor units are capable of playing dvds while the car is in motion as long as you tie the ground with the stereo

nope, nothing will dmg your car.
Ground the wire is similar to pulling the handbrake all the time

Some other peoples opinion---->http://www.crutchfield.com/S-rAugIt6...=130AVICD1#Tab

Hey, a semi cheap bastard here, I want the eclipse for the dvd and nav, Might get the D1 cause of the cost and suppose better nav................

But the facts are I don't own a single DVD inorder to just tify me getting the eclipse, its just I've been waiting for the 5495 for like 6 months............

Also I don't plan on buying any DVD's (hince the cheap bastard remark)

So my question is.......................... Which of these units plays the most downloadable video format stuff........Like mpeg (divx -probably none) realplayer content, windows format and stuff like that.

I'm not spending 10-20 bucks when I want to watch a movie. I get people selling bootleg pornos and "before it comes to theatres" versions dvds, and I know those are dvd-r's so its okay, but what about my P2P files I got, and want to show to others in my ride?

Who knows? Multiple answers..................GO

None of them are going to play stuff like that unless you format it into SVCD.

super video cd. and yes all of these players are not designed to have decoders for things other than whats listed on the box for the most part, hell there aren't even home players except for a few that do DIVX without formatting. If you want to play those items on a car setup you will need to get a program that will switch your media into SVCD.

Hmm............... that's sounds like work. or more doe? Looks like I might have to dig deep for that new dvd purchase after all............. unless I just get the D1 for less and no internal map w/o dvd disc......... At least this way I don't have to buy dvd's cause they just won't work. Buy a used ps2 and ahhh............ I think I'll be getting a d1 even though I wanted the 5495 $ 2135 installed. It was a deal............. Now I'll propbably do the ebay thing D1 $1055 plus local shop install fees probably no more than $200 if you buy the item and bring it in to them........ they got to make money too!

Just got to get that parking sensor. gps motion sensor, and some other sensor turned off, in order for me to not get totally annoy by the d1

Thanks so much..........(would mine some more comments, I know not everyone that wants a in dash nav has one yet, and if they do, get to posting some reviews on scionlife!)
