Help choosing single sub to run on nine.2 amp
Hey guys i want to save up some room on my my Tc so im selling my 2 12" and getting a single sub setup. I haven't gotten the box but planning on a sealed box. I have a nine.2 amp rated at 400W x 1 @ 4 Ohm @12.5v. I was looking for a sub more on the SQ side. I listen to variety of music from hip hop, rap, reggetton to alternative. I was looking for a sub under 200 dollars. I was thinking on for either Alpine type R, IDQ, JL w3 simply because of what i have read on other post. I havent heard any of them in person and was hopping for some input to get a good sub. I have stock speaker with an additional set of tweeters. Thanks

Check into Image Dynamics......they are clean and hit hard,may be over your budget for IDQs,haven't check prices lately,I know mine are sweet sounding in a sealed box and work great for metal and hiphop.
I used to be the same way then I started working in car audio so I got exposed to more and more speakers and subs. I used to LOVE alpine type-r's then I heard waht a w6 could do among others and I lost the love for them

eD makes some great products.........my NINe.5 is only rated at like 400wat 2 ohms........I bench tested it and at 2 ohms I get 620w and still have soem gain to go,but it starts to clip at 620w......so I set my subs at 600w and it freaken cranks.
I am also pushing 115 to each comp the eD 6000s and they will take a lot more too,but it is so loud it is not in balance with the subs,so I run them at that..........good products.......
The only thing I did not like from them is the SQ10.......it was not loud enough for me,then I sold it and the guy blew it up in like 2 weeks,and neither of us can figure out how cause his amp only was pushing 250 w and it was tuned for clean signal too.........
I wanna try out their think they are 6 or 7 inch subs in the back for midbass,just trying to find a way to make a sealed box for them inside the panel......since I got 2 free chanels I am not using with about 125w each doing nothing......lol

Here's a GREAT sub for under $140;
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=295-466
Dayton RSS315HO-4 12" Reference HO Subwoofer 4 Ohm
Only needs 0.6' sealed and will work VERY well with the 400w your amp has.
It's a definite SQ sub, very low distortion design, which can still get loud.
