ok so first you need to change your remote wire so your amp goes off when your car goes off. secondly it is clear that its a wiring issue w/ the rca and speaker wires. first - move the rca and make it go down the other side of the car - if that doesnt work try swapping rca's - then that doesnt work do the speaker wire. ..try it in that order and I think one of those steps will give you success.

Well I just re-reread this entire topic... seems to me that the interference is either from the speaker wire or you got a bunk amp. Now my experience with Profile has been a good one, though I have always used California series not Baja. If you reroute the speaker wires opposite the power cable and still have noise I'd say that you may need some kind of filter. You coud get some ferrite chokes and attach them at the speaker ends of your speaker wire(at the speaker end). The only other solution I can come up with would to be to wrap your speaker wires and RCA cables with foil tape to add some sheilding. The whine you hear is RFI(Radio Frequency Interference). The speaker wire is acting like an antenna. Just like when you plug a vacuum cleaner or box fan into the same outlet as a TV or radio. You are picking up noise from the alternator. You just have to find out from where and isolate it.

I brought it to circuit city today and they disconnected my stock HU and the line-out converter. They put in a different HU and it sounded all better. I have to get one of those bad mothers now. What do you all think about this HU:

http://www.eclipse-web.com/cd/cd3000.html

The remote wire is connected to the ignition because it can't be hooked up properly to the stock HU - another reason to get an aftermarket HU.

The speaker wire and RCAs and power wires are all run properly along the car. Seperated on each side an all. I have the 1 ground loop isolator on the front, and I could add another to the rear if I must.

The grounds are good, connected to the seat belts, circuit city says that its good.

The speaker wire that i'm using is not too good - not shielded. I like the idea of foil tape to wrap around the speaker wires and rcas though.

What do you all think of that HU?

Good luck finding sheilded speaker wire... Well the Eclipse will allow you to keep your steering wheel controls. Before you shell out $200 plus dollars give the other line out converter you have a try. Be sure to place it as close to the head unit as possible. If i'm not mistaken you can ground the SVEN4. I would ground it right to the head unit ground and servo tape it on the bottom of the head unit. Then run sheilded RCA's to the amp. Try to get a good set of RCA cables. Some use the sheilding to carry the - signal... Those are bad. You will want to look for a set that have two conductors plus sheilding. Also since you already have ground loop isolators install those at the amp side of the RCA's. But if your not diggin the factory head unit, pitch it and go aftermarket. BTW you can usually pick up foil tape at home improvement stores. It's used for duct work. Hope this helps...

speaker wire is speaker wire...as long as there's copper in it, don't worry.

So i'm set with the speaker wire and the rcas, I was at circuit city and they had in clearance a step up with the amps. I picked up a pioneer gm-6100f. It cost $80....thats a steal and a step up for me. The engine noise is still there to a slight extent, so it looks like the headunit is next. What do you all think of that pioneer amp?

It'll only get warm if I am REALLY cranking up the volume though, right? I'm actually asking out of ignorance. How else could it get warm other than pumping a lot of juice through it?

Also, 8 guage power wire is ok with that amp right?

Awesome, and what about keeping it cool? The amp gets hot when its pumping alot of juice/volume through the wires?

I dont know what the right answer is to why one amp would get hotter then another. I know the expensive amps dont heat up ...but most amps do get a tad warm.
