Lounge Seat space Conversion...Useful or Useless?
There's the Lounge Space Conversion that you can do with your tC by moving your seat up, taking off the headrests, and laying the back of the seat down to touch the back seats. Now, is this setup actually useful or useless? Supposedly, Scion sees this as a lounging space for say when you're at the beach or a conversation place.
Is there actually enough room for people to sit in there, like how many? Seems kind of cramp. But then again, I don't have my tC yet so I don't really remember that well. If someone could post up pictures that would be useful. I can only think of using that lounge space for one thing, and if it's at the beach, it would have to be at night.

though i dont have my tC yet either, i say useful. the "lounge / social space" is good for more than just getting dirty (which is the best part IMO). i have long work/school days and sometimes its nice to be able to nap between classes or whatever. cant do that in my civic cuz it just doesnt work that way.
you can still have 4 people in the car.... say youre driving from orlando to miami(about 3-4hours drive). the person beside you can lay all the way back, still wear the back seatbelt, and go to sleep. the other 2 passengers would sit in the middle and drivers side of the rear bench. that set-up is a little less cozy for those 2 in the back but i wouldnt say cramped unless they're a lil meaty.
its also good for if you have a lot of stuff to move or long things like surf boards, skis, snowboards....
whether or not you actually use the feature is a different story. just my .02

one last note, when i get my tC, if someone wants to "lounge" im gonna make whoever it is take off their shoes cuz i dont want dirt on my seats. further more, im gonna keep a lil bottle of febreeze or something cuz if the person ends up with some stinky feet smelling like ___, im gonna drench them in febreeze. the shoes too.
thats one thing nobody has mentioned. if someone is in social position, their feet are gonna be right next to the driver. open up that pano sunroof and let the fumes out!

I actually used the "lounge" seat a couple of nights ago with my gf. I wouldn't recomend having more than 2 people in the car in that configuration, but I thought it was fairly useful. The center consol kind of gets in the way, since it's a bit higher than the seats while folded down, but it's not too big a bother. Hell, its actually a perfect place to put things, like a food platter or something while you and your friends are lounging.
It'd be great for drive-ins (where they still exist), or like you guys noted, the beach or a hill top. Reclining the back seats down, we had a nice little couch. I think it's very useful, expecially on dates and the like. I have yet to try fitting more than two people in the configuration, but judging from my use, it might be a bit cramped.
I don't know about the xB, but if this feature is/was on it; that would easily fit four or more there.

Actually the xB has the same Thing. Just pull your front seats all the way up, take the headrest and the will fold completely flat....

See Above for my pic of the tC "social" area.

I used it to watch fireworks out the Pano roof on the 4th of July and I think it would be a good place to sleep if there are only two people in the vehicle.
Useful for long trips or a weekend somewhere. It is actually half way comfy too, of course I have fallen asleep sitting on a train resting my head on my knees.
