Default Need opinions. Deciding between head unit options.

Should i get these two products:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/In-Dash/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P6000DVD

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...ories/AVG-VDP1

or this one:

http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=IVA-W505

i like the pioneer gizmo that shows the car specs, but that head unit provides less output and less sound clarity than the alpine one and it doesn't connect to steering wheel controls

I like the alpine one cuz like i said it has more output and better sound quality, and it can connect to my steering wheel controls, but alpine doesn't make a fancy gizmo that tells you specs on ur car like pioneer does

So my question is: Assuming money is no object, just looking at the items themselves, looking at the things that gizmo can do for me, are they worth giving up the better sound and the convenience of steering wheel controls? Or should i just get the alpine one and then save up until i can afford this:

http://magden-auto.com/products/36

And yes that's the gizmo used in the new fast and furious.

The Pioneer one looks pretty nice to me - but I really don't know much about those higher end setups. The thing that struck me is that neither of them have NAV... is that right? Did I just miss it? I mean, I just can't see spending that kind of money without getting NAV as well.

no ur right niether of them have nav BUT the alpine has the option to buy a black bird unit later and it can hook up to the headunit. You can even move the screen forward and tuck the blackbird behind screen and then move the screen back. so the blackbird's outta sight.

Ya, I saw that docking option for a portable NAV for the Alpine, that looked pretty trick. One of the new Pioneer HUs has a portable NAV attached to it.

Of course, if you already have an external NAV, that would be less important for you anyway. Just saying.

Click my link on my signature. I have the 4000DVD Pioneer. I love it and the sound quality is great but I'm using a 4 channel amp for both my component sets. I love how there is no flipping or folding faceplate. Motorized shizz always seems to break for me I only paid 495 new for it but it does not have navigation. The D3 was the only other choice at the time from pioneer that had navi but it was 1k more.... no thanks, I don't do roadtrips in it and I have a Garmin in my other car if I ever did

Based on your pricepoints, you may want to consider a unit with Navigation and sell your handheld unit... I've been pricing (Amazon.com has great deals) a few systems. I've narrowed it down to either the

CHOICE A:
Kenwood DDX-514 ($300)
with the Nav ($250)
BlueTooth($150)
XM ($100)

CHOICE B
Pioneer AVIC-F90BT (or F900BT) ($700)
Bluetooth is built in
XM ($100) and Nav ($87)

Both are under $1000 if I DIY
Local audio place I spoke to while comparing head-units will install the Kenwood DNX5140 (Kenwood above, With Nav built in) for $1200

I'll probably go with Choice A since I don't have $800 to drop all at once, but can get everything one at a time as I have the money and slowly expand the system.
