Default Just installed my D3

Almost done installing my AVIC-D3 , got it from Crutchfield, XM W/ Navtraffic, Bluetooth, & a PAC adapter to keep my steering wheel controls. I got the color to match the amber LEDs through-out the car, pretty simple the unit lets you modify the color with a HUE CHART , Red Green Blue + and - option on each color till you match your dash of prefered color. Also the hatch would close with the unit in, so I dremeled out where the volume **** would hit. Still looks like factor but now it closes and I noticed the sides of your AVIC-D3 show through the back of the unit (GAP SPACE) the border that came with the unit can be cut with snips and just hot glued on the side, looks alot cleaner. Where did you put your GPS / XM antennas? Any ideas how to bypass the DVD video while not parked? I'll post pics once I clean up the car.

I put my GPS antenna inside the a-pillar. I don't know if that's a good place, but it works. I'll probably relocate it to the hatch area, or maybe on top of the dash. I forget that it came with a border..thanks for the reminder. As for the DVD bypass, www.avic411.com should have the answer soon.

Can you post a picture of what you did with the dremel?

Mech & Chapman, was there not enough room to mount the D3 further back in the radio chassis? Or does it still hit even with it mounted all the way back? Looks juicy!!!

I don't know about the tCover anymore... I have one and I may have zapped it. So I emailed about sending mine in for repair or buying a replacement, haven't heard a response yet (2 months now). But yah, when it was working it was pretty hot!

Mine did the same thing, i just unplugged the board and let it sit for about 10 mins and plugged it back in and it works like a charm.

Mech--- when scrolling through the ipod menu is the D3 instant or does it lag a little like the Z1? How well does the PAC adapter work? THANKS!

Default PAC and Ipod

The PAC adapter works great, only thing I wasnt able to get the mode option on my steering wheel worknig, when I hit it the volume drops instantly and "ATT" displays on the bottom left corner of the screen. Other than that, 1 Resistor was needed to be soldered and the rest was cake work.
The IPOD lags about 1 second, I have no complaints, I switch the song with the Steering wheel by the time I take my eyes off the road to take a peek at the Head Unit the song info is up

Hope that helps!

Default PAC Adapter

The PAC adapter lets you use the factory steering wheel controls with your aftermarket head unit. Heres the one I bought: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-BnWmpua...asp?i=127SWIPS

No glare during the day. There's anti-glare coating on the screen.
