Just got the ipod hooked up and it's alright. One BIG CON is it doesn't include a search option. That means I have to scroll through all the artists or songs to play that one song that's towards the end of the alphabet.

You can always create a few different custom playlist. But I know what you mean, I felt the same way, Honestly since I activated XM though, thats been on most of the time, Also the XM has a "Memo" option on it, real neat because if a song is on and you hit the Memo button it stores the song so next time your listening to XM and for example your on channel 81 and the song you memo's is playing on channel 22 a little pop up comes up and says that "song xxxxxxx is playing on channel 22 would you like to tune to channel 22?" I think thats a sick feature if I described it cleary.

Sorry if this was asked before. But since I have the stock Pioneer with iPod, does it use the same connector as the stock one? Meaning, is the cable already run into the armrest?

Its not the same wire. You need to run this wire:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-327kWBm...sp?i=130CDI200
from the back of the head unit, past the e-brake then you can just pop out a piece that runs into the armrest, quite simple I'll take pics when I get home tonight and show you what I am talking about.

Thanks Mike. It looks like a one piece cable unlike the stock 2 piece (one from the HU to the armrest and another from the armrest to the iPod). Am I mistaken?

Default BYPASS

Not sure if you ever got a bypass to work or not. Just in case you didnt, or anyone else wants to know, here is some info to help. The other link that someone posted talks about a switch under your warranty stick, no such switch. Follow the write up from the link below. I instilled mine two days ago and used this bypass method and it works like a champ.

http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.p...ghlight=bypass

*NOTE: When grounding the relocated "mute" wire and "e-break" wire make sure its a solid ground or the unit will get mad and disable the DVD while driving. I crimped both these wires together and grounded them to the bolt holding the mounting bracket on the top right (between the bracket and nut).

Good Luck and have fun, I know I am

I am like the guy right above me. I am also looking to buy one asap and probably through crutchfield with the special 15% off. I am also wanting to get sirius. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how difficult it is to install the nav and sirius if I have never installed a car stereo before, Like how hard is it to run wires and to set up the nav receiver and the Sirius antenna? And does the harness that crutchfield comes with allow the door to shut?

I've been looking at crutchfield and seeing what I can get with the 15% coupon. The PAC steering wheel adaptor doesn't qualify for the offer and I can't find the bluetooth module on the site. I don't want the XM module so I might just get the d3 and the ipod adaptor. Anyone know if crutchfield offers the bluetooth module?

Yes crutchfield does offer the bluetooth module but they are currently out of stock. I also hear that a new model is coming out soon, and possibly they might not be getting any of the old one till the new one comes out.

It's not hard to install at all. It'll just take a bit longer if you're a rookie. If you buy from Crutchfield, I think they include free mounting brackets, wire harness, and instuctions to install. And they offer free tech support, or you can ask us any questions. But if you want someone to help you in Dallas, you should try posting in the regional area of the forums.

Like I said above, it's not hard at all. It'll take some time. Running wires are simple. You can be as creative as you want..but of course, you'd want to place the antennas at a receptible area. I don't know if the mounting brackets will solve the door issue though.

jcotten1 - I am in Fort Worth if you need to ask some questions.

As for "running wires" the only wire I had to run was for the GPS. Its not in a location i like yet but it works for now. Everything else is right there. You ground the relocated mute and ebreak (so don't have to run the ebreak) and for the speed sensor...there is one running to the back of the HVAC controls (Orange and white wire. second row, 14th from the left NOT the one on the first row) I didn't connect the wire for reverse and everything works fine and my GPS doesn't freak out when i back up 5feet out of a parking spot.
