I just installed my unit this weekend with the Bluetooth adapter. Best improvement for the Bluetooth is that it now autoconnects with motorola phones. My DEH-P980BT was unable to do this. Otherwise, the connectivity appears to be same with my RAZR. Nice unit.

The multicast feature allows stations to broadcast a sub-channel in addition to their main frequency, all without paying for another FCC license. From what I read there's extra bandwidth leftover from the main station so they used the remaining bandwidth to do the sub-channel. It could be possible that earlier hardware didn't have the ability to read the sub-channel data. Or I could be totally wrong about what he meant by 'multicast'.

Note that you need to be logged in to see attachments on Avic411.com. I was going nuts trying to find your bg pix, then I tried logging in.... and then they showed up.

Just easier way for some to change buttons to amber. I originally used yellow as i saw your post, Chapman. I didnt really read the manual either just played with the menus messed with the hue chart and then later found Dash illum. and amber matched better than my hue chart attemps. I hate tapping the touch screen constantly in order to scroll, that sux. When my 80gb ipod comes in i'm sure that will suck and no search sucks but as mentioned playlist will have to be made.
Yeah, it's a pain to scroll through your ipod on the D3. Wonder why they made it so difficult?

How's the sound quality?

So you're saying there can be more than 1 frequency for each station, meaning that one main station can have a few smaller stations on the side. I think I understand.

SQ is on par with telephone. Sounds just as good as the DEH-P980BT.

think of it like this. if you have ever used hdtv you will understand it better. what happenes is that you can have more digital channels on one frequency. so say you have 95.3 is an analog radio station with digital you can have.95.3-1, 95.3-2, 95.3-3, etc. this is how hdtv works (over the air not on cable box) im not sure if thats how the frequencies are listed but thats esentially how it works.

double din is a a 4" tall radio , standard aftermarket radios are single din 2" double that and you get double din.

I've never used Jensen, but it's a cheaper brand, so keep in mind you get what you pay for.
